  • Maria la Gorda Scuba Diving Center is located in Pinar del Rio
  • Because of the richness, variety and excellent preservation of its flora and fauna, Pinar del Río is called "the garden of Cuba." UNESCO has declared the Guanahacabibes Peninsula and the Rosario Mountain Range biosphere reserves, and the Viñales Valley a world cultural heritage. The land in which the world's best tobacco is grown also offers you wonderful opportunities for scuba diving, hunting, fishing or simply relaxing and tanning at the beach.,

Since the 19th century, Havana residents have been drawn by the natural beauty of Vueltabajo, and they have flocked to Los Portales Cave, to San Diego de los Baños, to receive the benefits of its mineral-medicinal and thermal waters; and to the Viñales Valley, to gaze at its natural beauty.,

Pinar del Río is just 174 km (108 miles) from Havana. A good highway links the two cities. The architecture in its historic center is eclectic, and its low houses in gentle colors, whose porches seem to form an endless gallery, have great charm. On the outskirts of the city, modern buildings break its horizontal lines. ,

When visiting Pinar del Río's provincial capital, be sure to tour the Guayabita del Pinar Distillery, where the drink of the same name is still made by hand, following an age-old recipe; the Guash Palace, the Milanés Theater and the Rumayor Cabaret.,

Quiet, comfortable hotels have been built in some of the most beautiful spots in Pinar del Río, to facilitate your enjoyment of Nature. Cayo Levisa has a delightful, sunny beach, and the province also offer excellent opportunities for scuba diving, hunting and fishing.

Maria La Gorda is situated in the extreme west part of the island of Cuba and is one of the most beautiful Diving spot of all the Caribbean. It is a place where the nature is the principal attraction, few bungalows to rest and have fun in the water of the Caribbean Sea. You would appreciate at only 14 mt. Black Coral and a very different kind of others Corals and big fishes like Barracudas or the local "Pargo". Maria La Gorda is the best way to discover the island of Cuba starting from the incontaminated nature of the place.

Under the best diving-places of Cuba, you find also the Dive Resort "Maria la Gorda ", with some excellent diving-places! This place was early venue and silence-place for corsairs and pirates and you still find rests of Galleons, anchors and cannons in the waters.around Maria la Gorda. The distance of Havanna amounts to approximately 300 km and is to be reached in about 4 hours with our transference. “María la Gorda’s” International Diving Center, located on the far West of Cuba, Guanahacabibes Peninsula, in Pinar del Río province is perhaps the world’s best diving spot, with an immense black coral reserve, the most colorful and exquisite fauna and like a hundred sunken pirate ship stories. The name itself comes out of the story of a beautiful lady abandoned by pirates on the area, she survived and decided to take advantage of the favorable location of the site (obliged stop of pirate vessels roaming the Caribbean Sea for refuge and water or food provision and also some entertainment) then María set up “business” in the place that later took her name. The Diving Shop counts with highly qualified dive instructors, and beginners can be certified with SSI and CMAS. Our well trained, professional personnel, what is solicitous about the security and the comfort of the guests very much, they try to guarantee an optimal service. Non divers can snorkel, fish or take boat rides, apart from enjoying of the unrivalled nature on the tropical forest surrounding the resort and taking the sun at the beach. The " Hotel Villa Maria la Gorda " is located on a white, 8km long sandy beach. The world’s most daring divers will be at home there in the small but comfortable Resort of 38 Bungalow from brick and wood.

      Perfect!!!!
The María La Gorda International Scuba-Diving Centre is in a scuba-diving area that extends along the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, a biosphere preserve. It is considered one of the most unspoiled natural areas in Cuba. In its clear water, you can see sea sponges and coral-including the largest colony of Black Coral (Antipathes salix) in Cuban waters.

      Maria la Gorda
Maria la Gorda is located in the westernmost part of Cuba, in the Great Natural Park Guanahacabibes, Pinar del Rio province. While the hotel is located on a nice beach, the main attraction is some of the best scuba diving in the world. Most dive sites are located within a 10 minute boat ride and the furthest is about 30 minutes away.

      Nice dive
Since the diving site is very near, you can do the first dive in the morning, at about 09:00 get back to the Villa, and then second dive in the afternoon, at about `15:00. As a protection measure, the Diving Center makes sure that divings cannot go deeper then 30 meters (98 feet) and not more than 40 minutes dive.

      “Little Europe ”
Maria la Gorda may be a part of the Island, but it is definitely not Cuba. The diving might be good, but personally I do not visit a foreign country to be with people who are from everywhere but - especially when they were generally a bunch of stuck-up snobs.
