  • Cienfuegos Dolphinarium is located in Cienfuegos
  •

French émigrés from Bordeaux and Louisiana founded the settlement of Fernandina de Jagua on a large, calm bay on the Caribbean Sea on April 22, 1819. In 1830, when it was upgraded to a town, its name was changed to Cienfuegos, in honor of José Cienfuegos, the Governor-General of Cuba. Fifty years later, it was proclaimed a city and, for its beauty, was called "the pearl of the south." By the end of the 19th century, it had become the fourth most important city in the country.,

Considered the crowning jewel of Cuban architectural in the 19th century, Cienfuegos stands out for the perfect design of its streets and for the refinement and good taste of the buildings in the historic center of the city, which has been declared a national monument. When visiting, stop by the Casa del Fundador (the Founder's House); Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción (Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception) Cathedral; the Tomás Terry Theater; the Ferrer Palace; and the José Martí Park, which contains the only arch of triumph in Cuba.,

Other attractions include the Prado Promenade, the Valle Palace, the museums of Naval and Provincial History, and the Reina (Queen's) Cemetery.,

Farther out from the center of the city, tour the Nuestra Señora de los Angeles de Jagua (Jagua for short) Fortress, the Tomás Acea Cemetery and the Botanical Gardens.,

In addition to these cultural and historic attractions, Cienfuegos has excellent facilities for scuba diving and other water sports, nature tourism and thermal baths.

      “Simple and nice ”
Of course, you cannot compare the Delfinario with the ones in the US. But ist is nice and you will be usually among some few visitors. Compared to other "attractions" in Cuba, it is among the better ones. They have approx. half a dozen dolphins their and the guys give you the impression that they like their job. At the... More

“Go early and take lots of cash with you ”
The first show is at 10am but the Dofinario is open from 8.30. If you´d like to swim with the dolfin before the show, make sure you arrive there early to guarantee a place. Only a group of 10 people can go per session. The dolfin is well trained and the time with the dolfin is strictly planned and co-ordinated... More

      “Fun for everyone! ”
The dolphin show is really good. We enjoyed it so much. You can swim with the dolphins at the end of the show if you pay extra money for it ( I don't remember how much). There is a little cafe in the delfinario where you can buy ice cream, drinks and sandwichs.

      “Simple but great fuun ”
I'm sure if you go to Florida the location, show and tricks will be much more impressive, but here it was slightly knackered and charming in the usual Cuban way. The show was cheap and diverting, and the swimming with dolphins was magical, and I felt good value for money. We bought the CD of photos to supplement our own... More

One of the best experiences in Cuba! A nice show with dolfins, interactive with the public, and afterwards swimming with the dolfins! We were really lucky because in total only 5 people and 2 dolfins, so really nice! Only for 50 cuc (july 2014). Really recommendable! Take the show at 2 pm, because it's supposed to be less busy than... More

      “nice, animal friendly ”
We enjoyed the visit to the delphinarium a lot. The animals seem to be treated with respect (I'm no expert on the matter). Kids loved it. Our son is still talking often about it, after 6 months

      “Absolutely amazing! ”
Our day started with asking the lady of our casa particular what we could do around Cienfuegos. She mentioned the Delfinario. We signed up for the show and - another check on my lifetime list of things to do - a swimming with dolphins experience. First of all, the place was nice and small with very few tourists. The show...
