    “Intourist at its worst ”
Just come back from a one night stay at this establishment and I can confirm that its pretty awful. It looks like a concrete barracks and feels like on too. On the positive side it is walking distance from town but the walk uphill is pretty steep. We were desperate to go to Trinidad on an overnight trip from Havana and this was all we could get last minute, It was part of an all in deal with a driver and a guide from the government travel agency, who I think owned the hotel. Trinidad is fantastic so was really worth seeing despite this hotel. Although if you have the chance avoid it. The reception staff are very Soviet. We had rooms that were chalet-like but a good hike from the main reception. The rooms were pretty dingy. The aircon was antique and was very noisy. There were cockroaches in the room. The bathroom intermittantly had hot water and was pretty basic and unappealing. The bed was hard but at least the sheets were clean. The minibar was so noisy I had to unplug it with a great flash. The food is pretty horrible, although we went to a christmas eve dinner where the hotel put on a spread. I wonder how bad it is normally. At least we didn't get any stomach problems from it, although that might have been because we barely ate any. The breakfast was pretty awful too. All-in-all we were very glad to leave.

“Save your money and stay in a Casa Version 2 ”
Unfortunately, we booked this place over the phone. We were told "We have a bank", it is an expensive Cadeka. Do you have an ATM? Yes.. but it is in the town below. We were told "We have a bus", but it is not a shuttle bus. It does have a pool. Up high on a hill yes, with good views, but unless you are fit you will need a taxi to get back up the long hill from town unless you have your own transport. The staff are stiff, and decidedly distant. The restaurant staff are in uniform, stiff and unsmiling. Compared to a Casa the breakfast is woeful, a stiff and highly structured experience. We couldn't get out of the place quickly enough, and found a wonderful Casa at one quarter the price.
