The resort is located on Cayo Largo del Sur, south of Cuba, in a spectacular natural environment with magnificent natural beaches surrounded by palm trees, coconut groves and beautiful coral reefs.

“Pleasant vacation at Sol Cayo Largo ”
Just back from one week at the Sol Cayo Largo. I must say that Cayo Largo is ruggedly beautiful and the beach is awesome, even though the sand is very difficult to walk in because it is so soft and deep, you get a real work out here. The food - not the best we have had but we certainly did not go hungry. Desmin at the pasta bar is fabulous and Amed makes a mean omelette. The "A Team" in the buffet, Amarilis, Alionuska and Alexander will take real good care of you. Mario, Osmany and Nestor are awesome bartenders. Vetia kept our room spotless everyday. A special thank you to Jorge, we had a few challenges with reservations and he went above and beyond in solving the issues - thank you Jorge. We were in Bldg 36 and felt a little isolated, it seemed to be so far from everything. Ismael offered to move us to Bldg 25 and after giving it some thought and the hassle of moving, we declined his offer and stayed in 36. We did appreciate the offer and thank him for being concerned and wanting to make us happy. Ismael is the assistant manager is very visible at all times. All of his staff at the front desk are extremely polite and professional. The Beach - you really get a work out. If you do not have a lounger close to the beach bar, you are in for a long hike to get a drink. Fortunately we had a cooler bag and usually brought our own! It was nice to see the construction of a new walk way to the beach beside Bldg. 30 - all it needs at the end is another beach bar. We took the train to Sirena Beach, be prepared to jump off the train and run through the deep sand and hope you find a couple of crappy loungers. Not worth the trip to Sirena Beach. Paraiso Beach is more beautiful but the loungers are still crappy. The trip to the village to see the Turtle Sanctuary and the marina was worth it. We saw some huge fish and starfish around the marina. If the rumour is true that the Sol Cayo Largo may become adults only, they would have to do some upgrades such as - the bathroom was definitely well worn with very little water pressure, the lattice separating balconies needs to be replaced with something offering privacy. To sum it all up, the resort is clean, the pool is fantastic, the staff are awesome, at first it seems confusing but once you know the "lay of the land", it is easier to find your way around. Would we go back? Maybe one day, but not in the near future. There are too many other resorts we would like to visit first.
