Havana Airport
José Martí International Airport (IATA: HAV, ICAO: MUHA), sometimes known by its former name Rancho-Boyeros Airport, is located 15 km (9 mi) southwest of Havana, Cuba, and is a hub for Cubana de Aviación, Aerogaviota, and Aero Caribbean, and former Latin American hub for Aeroflot Soviet Airlines.[2] It is Cuba's main international and domestic gateway, and serves several million passengers each year. The airport lies in the municipality of Boyeros and connects Havana with the rest of the Caribbean, North, Central and South America, Europe, and one destination in Africa. It is named in memory of patriot and poet José Martí. In the 1960s the airport was bombed by B-26 aircraft from Brigade 2506, a CIA-sponsored group of Cuban exiles attempting to liberate Cuba from Fidel Castro. Cubans are not allowed to own aircraft or use the airport for either private or commercial flight. Only government-owned aircraft are allowed to use the facilities. There are currently four passenger terminals in use at the airport, plus a freight terminal.[3] Terminal 1 is used primarily for domestic flights. Terminal 2 opened in 1988, primarily for charter flights to the United States. Ten years later on April 27, 1998, the International Terminal 3 was opened by Canada's then-Prime Minister, Jean Chrétien, and former Cuban president, Fidel Castro. International Terminal 3 offers many modern facilities and jetways that the former international Terminal 1 did not provide. Terminal 5 is operated by Aerocaribbean. Today, Copa Airlines is the foreign airline with most flights to the airport, operating 34 flights a week (roughly 5 daily flights) from Panama City, Panama, and Bogota, Colombia. The airport is operated by Empresa Cubana de Aeropuertos y Servicios Aeronáuticos (ECASA).

“Worst nightmare of my life ”
Having drove a day shift, I approached at the frost desk at 4:30PM to check in procedures by Mrs. Reyes, the assigned the room nº 2131, the worst nightmare of my life. The room was dirty, crackers walk around the dirtiest carpet and the bathroom? nothing works according a normal 5* Hotel in the world, no hot water in the bathroom, a broken hair dryer, no lights... My goal was only to have a correct clean room and a normal shower to spend one night in Havana. Please Mr. General Manager more than your good notes about all your customers complaint feedback here, take a action now, it´s definitely a holdup to pay the money for your Hotel.

“Disappointing - Stay in another hotel! ”
We stayed in this hotel for a total of four nights; two at the beginning of our holiday and two nights to round the holiday off back in Havana. We found the hotel room itself clean and tidy. and that's the only good thing we had to say about it. The staff are extremely rude and unwelcoming. We requested to use the iron one evening with the understanding we would return it to reception the following morning. After a 10 hour flight we wanted an early night, at 12am! a bell boy was banging on our door requesting the iron. The following night, again an early one as we had a 4 am flight out of Havana, a phone call from reception at 11pm to discuss a dining complaint that another room had made! Apparently the receptionist thought we were with them at the time. The Cafe they have there is appalling, and the staff just as bad. Asking for anything was a real effort. Really disappointed and will not be returning.

“Good enough for short visits ”
This is one of the iconic hotels located near the Malecon. I believe is the tallest of the area and you have a pretty good view of the city center and surrounding areas. We stayed 2 nights there, no problem at all. Getting from the airport will cost you between 25 to 30 Cuban Pesos (around 28 euros). You have to say "I'm going to Havana Libre" instead of Tryp Habana Libre...the cab drivers seem to not recognize the "Tryp" part. Be ready with a printed reservation of the hotel. They will ask you about the "voucher" to confirm your room. I didn't bring mine printed and it was almost a problem because I had all on my cell...so, remember that. You may change your euros or dollars or other major currencies at the front desk. The room was clean, well kept but you notice the whole structure is outdated for obvious reasons. The breakfast seems to be complimentary and buffet type. WiFi only around the lobby and second floor. It will cost you 10 CUC per hour. (I don't know why, but the same hotel chain, sells the WiFi access in the Sol Cayo Largo Hotel for 8 CUC - strange, because the other hotel is in another Cuban island!). In the first floor you may find a Cuban cigar and rum shop. Also a snack, water and soda store outside the lobby but under the same building. Across the street you may find some small restaurants. I personally didn't like the one next to the lobby: pricey, small and few options of food. There is also next to the lobby, some travel and recreation agencies in case you need to set up something or confirm next legs of your Trip. Long story short: Good hotel if you don't mind, literally, an old fashioned atmosphere. Enjoy your stay

“It is not a 5 star according to European Standards”
It's a great location to stay in La Habana Vedado. The service offered is very good, but the rooms even though they are spacious are not so high standard. It is normal in Cuba! The swimming pool is very comfortable and breakfast served is delicious. I would definitely go back to Habana Libre when in Cuba.

“Great location ”
According to the reviews I read I had no expectations regarding this place. Location is perfect in a pretty safe area, I was travelling by myself and had no problem to go to near restaurants just by walking. Breakfast is very good ( I just realized after having breakfast in other hotels...pastries are very good). 3 of 6 elevators were being repaired, which is the cost of making it a better place, by the end of my stay only 2 elevators were working and it is a big hotel, it meant up to 20 minutes waiting or...go down/upstairs 19 floors.

“4 day trip ”
Amazing hotel to experience real havana! Advise to have a high floor,we had 17 and it was great to overlook the city, especially at night. We walked into the old town via seafront which was lovely.Walked back along San Martin road, experiencing real non tourist Havana. Hotel was very clean, great pool area, snack bar was good for the kids. Bar staff knew their cocktails. Breakfast good and with a piano player. Large rooms. Overall found this a good stay.

“Good for shorts visits... ”
Bearing in mind the low quality and apathetic and nonchalant staff of most hotels in Cuba, this hotel turned to be a real surprise. I am not saying that this is an awesome hotel, but it is certainly above most hotels in Havana and it perfectly fullfilled my expectations. Until Castro´s revolution this was the Havana Hilton, and as other reviewer has funnily pointed out, it seems that thay have not spend much in decoration since. The general apperance of the lobby and the rooms are bit shabby, but at leat staff is helpful and wellcoming. The location is great. Near the Malecón, actually many rooms face the sea having really impressive views, and in an lively street with many attractions. I would recommend in the area the ice cream shop "Coppelia" and the jazz club "La Zorra y el Cuervo". Both of them are within walikng distance. In general, not the best but a rather pleasant stay for a few days.

In the center of Vedado
The Tryp Habana Libre Hotel is 20 kilometers away from Havana's international airport and has a privileged location in the heart of the Cuban capital. The establishment, which is located in the residential neighborhood of El Vedado, benefits from its proximity to the University of Havana, the Malecón (seaside promenade) and the ice cream parlor Coppelia. The hotel, which is also close to the busy La Rampa St., is an excellent place to hold congresses and conventions, since it is equipped with the necessary facilities to hold meetings and to accommodate businesspeople.
