Juan Gualberto Gomez Airport was built in 1989 and inaugurated by Fidel Castro,[3] thus replacing the old Varadero airport located in Santa Marta, currently known as Kawama Airport. The airport was named after a journalist, fighter for the Cuban Independence and black rights activist in Cuba Juan Gualberto Gómez (1854–1933). The terminal building has shops for tourists (including rum, cigars, T-shirts, books, carvings, pharmaceuticals), a large departures lounge cafeterias and a VIP lounge. A VIP card is available by paying $30/person to the local tour company representative. This allows the departing passenger to bypass the queues for check-in, have an agent take your departure tax to the correct official for you, and bypass any lines for passport control. The passenger is then taken to the VIP lounge which provides free food and drink (including alcoholic beverages).[4] The ground handling equipment is imported mainly from North America. There are four jet bridges, but air stairs are used for the remaining aircraft parking spaces on the apron by the terminal. Juan Gualberto Gómez Airport (IATA: VRA, ICAO: MUVR), formerly known as Varadero Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto de Varadero), is an international airport serving Varadero, Cuba and the province of Matanzas. The airport is located closer to the city of Matanzas than to Varadero. The closest airport to Varadero is Kawama Airport. In 2009, the airport handled 1.28 million passengers,[2] making it the second busiest airport in Cuba after José Martí International Airport in Havana.

      “Don't waste your money”
Let's just say we should of spent the extra $400.00 and went somewhere else. We had to change rooms 4 times due to no air conditioning and no water. The foul smell that was around the pool area was enough to make you vomit. Most of the staff was rude. Rarely did we receive fresh towels and sheets. Our beach towels were stolen from the pool and they wanted to charge us $10.00 to replace them each. It's very outdated and they cater to there own meaning there is a lot of Cuban families there and they get treated great. The beach was nice once we cleaned up all the litter left by all the 17 and 18 year olds that were there on their graduation trip (cups, bottles, cigarette butts). If S-trip is there be prepared for unsupervised teenagers drunk out of their minds, not supervised and having sex in the pool. We will definitely not be back to Hotel Villa Cuba.

      “NEVER AGAIN JUNE 8 - 15 2014 ”
Arrive at 10.15 p.m. Assigned to Room 1208. Unpack and shower in tepid water. Shower guard broken. Bathroom flooded. T.V. broken. To late to change. Next day cannot change room as ALL are in the same condition ! Find A/C/Vacation rep and get new room. 2502. Nice room with broken a/c fan and T.V. that can be turned on but not off - must unplug from wall. Chipped bath. Will send mechanic. Next day six hour power failure. T.V. and Fan repaired on third day. Elevators broke down every day, most had no lights to indicate if they were working and from the 5th floor there were 60 to 70 stairs up and down. To an 84 year old this was not good news. On the last day we checked out the room at noon and planned to change to going home attire just prior to our departure at 5.30. To change I tried three mens washrooms but all were closed, then the pool bar washroom where the drains were clogged with water on the floor and stinking, I eventually changed behind a chesterfield in the lobby. If you like all this, then this is the place to go. Personally I do not know why Air Canada and Air Canada Vacation even associate with them. Staff were usually obliging but said they could do nothing to help ! Disgusted. Burlington.

      “Worst vacation trip ever ”
Dzemal K. " Worst vacation ever, WILL NEVER RETURN'' Stayed there with my friends from June 7-June 14/2014.. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER.. I have had cockroaches and lizards in my room, my friend who has a 2-year old daughter had lizards and a snake in closet. Food was gross. Always repetitive never different. Entertainers spoke Spanish all the time, did not talk English, if they did it was only show is starting and that's it. When I ordered a drink from waiter/waitress it would be about 10-15 min wait which is only about 10-15 feet walk to refill station. Just as I picked up cake and was to eat it, when I sliced in half, found ants crawling in it. Staff is horrible, my friends and I waited outside the hotel for 15 min for last Varadero Tour bus of the day to get on, just as bus arrived, receptionist decides to call us back in and ask if we ordered flowers, apparently it was a woman who received flowers and she had same shirt as my wife, but wrong room number, she did not apologize, only security at door apologized, so we missed bus, did not go for Varadero tour. Apparently they had kid entertainment, that was completely wrong advertisement. Any drink I ordered, I never received correct one, different bartender different drink, only correct drink they can serve is BEER, because it comes from tap and no work required. As my friend and I are waiting to order drinks, 2 bartenders are standing and watching baseball game, totally oblivious to us waiting, until I came in to their viewing area that's when they noticed me. My friend's A/C was making such a loud noise, I was able to hear it next door, apparently they came and fixed it, as soon as they left, noise came back, they just cleaned the filter nothing was fixed. I have asked 3 times to fix my phone so I can get a wake-up call on the day that I am leaving, NOBODY ever came or fixed my phone, if it wasn't for my friend who brought his alarm by mistake, we would be late for our bus to airport. Also, there was a hooker present at our hotel, she came with her pimp and he was offering her to everybody, Cohiba band member (young male singer maybe early 20's) actually paid for her, flashed him and her with money and off the HAPPY couple went.

Read what I have written in the section "Add a tip to help travellers choose a good room" I hated the place. Too many Cubans around in the hotel, the pool and restaurants. People were loud during the night, bartenders surely when not given tips. Fights amongst tourists. I will never go back to Cuba. The Cuba that I have known no longer exist. Capitalism is ramping. They criticize Americans but there are signs about America all over the place.

“What did I pay for? ”
My stay at Villa Cuba was definitely not pleasant. The first day I arrived (which was roughly around 10:30 AM) no one was allowed to check into their rooms until 4:00 PM... Everyone was grumpy, tired, and obviously not wanting to stand around with their luggage for 5.5 hours. In the first two days I had changed rooms three times, and my mother had changed rooms twice. My first room had a broken fridge and bathroom door, and my second room didn't have working air conditioning (which hadn't been working for a long time according to the receptionist). And my mother's first room was infested with ants. On top of all the problems we had been having with our rooms, we didn't realize that calling another room was as easy as dialing the room number on the phone. We were told to connect to reception and ask to be connected to the room we wanted. After doing so a few times, the receptionist answered the phone, snapped at me and said "do it yourself" and hung up..... I was furious. Oh, and I should also add that the resort provides you with ONE large bottle of water for your entire stay... I was there for two weeks. So be prepared to constantly have to buy bottled water. - Now onto the food... I've been to Cuba before, so I was prepared for not so tasty food. But I wasn't prepared for Villa Cuba's food. Their main dining area is a buffet style. Every day they'd cook the same foods. Boiled potatoes, half cooked rice, watery soups, (sometimes) half or uncooked meats, and ice cream... That everyone lined up for haha. And I was surprised to see that some days they wouldn't even cook different meals between lunch and dinner. In fact, they'd leave the lunch food there for dinner. - The hotel also has a lot of renovating to do.. My mother relies on a cane a lot so that means having to take the elevator. All the elevators in the hotel either wouldn't work or they'd take you to the wrong floor. It's extremely difficult having to rely on something like that. - Now don't get me wrong, I'm not a sour person. Other than everyone/everything inside of the hotel itself.. It was great. There's some sort of entertainment by the pool every day and night, there's a pool bar that serves drinks until very late in the evening, and a snack bar that makes amazing grilled cheese. This resort also has an amazing beach. There are always activities by the beach, whether they are types of contests, or volleyball matches between other guests. - In conclusion, go to this resort if you're looking to party a lot. It's great for entertainment and ice breaker games for the guests. Also, in order to survive, make dinner reservations EVERY evening at the resort's restaurants inside (Bamboo and La Mariposa), go across the street to Meson de Quijote, or go to Plaza America for your meals. Don't go to this resort if you have any physical health issues, because there are a lot of stairs and long walks between the semi-working elevators.

      “Brace yourself. ”
Let's start with this. As a Canadian, I am very used to the luxuries of having a comfy bed with clean sheets and food that actually had flavor. From the very beginning of my stay in Villa Cuba I started to have a bad time. I paid for a three bed hotel room, however, what we received was two single mattresses and a cot. The beds were hard as a rock and our sheets were never changed once. Later on our trip, we also came to the realization that our bed had bed bugs. Through out our room there were many damages from before we got there (cracked walls, chips in the tables, broken drawers and outlets, etc). After a heavy thunder storm, our ceiling actually began to leak. It took room service almost an hour and a half to come to our aid to help. Being in Cuba, we thought this was okay. Until, that is, we tried out our bathroom. The water pressure was little to none, and our toilet wouldn't even flush. We alerted the hotel staff and, thankfully, they had it fixed by the end of the night. Through out the week, though, our water pressure was very poor and often our toilet would not flush. We also did not have any hot water unless it was very early in the morning or very late at night. We also found a /live/ cock roach in our room. Other than the quality of our room, the rest of our stay was decent. The drinks were often too strong, but the bar tenders were very friendly and had very quick service. Other than booze, there was nothing to drink but water and lemon lime soda. Everything else tasted like a dulled down sugary drink. The food on the other hand, was horrible. Everything was always cold or over cooked. The vegetables would smear in your mouth when you ate them and the meat was often mystery meat. It was always the same food every single night, with little to no flavour. I survived a week off of pasta and rice. The services were mediocre. Majority of the staff were very friendly and helpful, but the ladies at the front desk were extremely rude and inconsiderate. We also later discovered that they were giving us less pesos than what they should have been while exchanging currency. The best part of the trip was the beach at Villa Cuba is amazing, and simply gorgeous.; There is plenty of sitting room and a beautiful view. The swimming pool was great as well, other than the fact that one of my friends actually sliced open their foot on a broken bottle that was in the pool. Even with the friendly people and beautiful beaches, I will not be returning to Cuba.

“To go or not to go? Depends...”
I stayed at Villa Cuba in May 2014 with my husband & another couple. We paid $1200 total for the trip. ($300 each + tax) If we had paid more, I would have been very disappointed. I have been staying at all inclusives for about 12 years so I have seen a lot of places. Villa Cuba is one of the lowest on my list. Never in all my trips have I complained about food. However, Villa Cuba had some of the worst food I have ever seen. Granted, it might have been the smell of sewage? coming from the kitchen area that turned my stomach. (yes, I'm serious) Since we were there rather late in the season, the hotel was maybe 40% full and it did seem like maybe the staff had also been cut down. The bartenders. OMG the bartenders. Quote from pool bartender after my husband went up to grab me a drink after he had just got his own: "You can tip me later" (I had a tip for him but it wasn't the one he was looking for) Seriously, the male bartenders just seemed very annoyed to be doing their job. The entertainment around the pool in the afternoons was strange too. They don't seem to start it until around 4pm and seem to kick it off with an exciting game of Bingo every. day. I won't go on about it, just know it didn't get any more exciting than that. Speaking of entertainment, the night shows were.....I'm just going to say it. They were TERRIBLE. One night they had women up on stage from the audience and the show consisted of them doing a "sexy pretend fashion show walk" and then they had to get male audience members up on stage and one by one attempt to "seduce" them. Seriously. That happened. And yes, it was as awkward to watch as you are imagining. The internet was hilariously slow. Tip: use Firefox, it was faster. You know when you go to a resort and people say there wasn't enough chairs and umbrellas around the pool? And you probably think, well, they can't please everyone? Well, I want you to guess how many umbrellas were around the pool at the magnificent Villa Cuba. Did you guess 2? If you guessed TWO, you would be right! Did you also guess that one was a Cristal beer umbrella that was supposed to be in the middle of a plastic table? You would also be right. Seriously though, 2 umbrellas. So strange. And we asked about it. They said there was no more. Ok. Way to try to give the Canadians heat stroke. We rented scooter twice. The guy out front will rip you off. He told us it was 25 CUC each. When we got back we saw the paper actually said 15 CUC. The next time that guy had a day off so we rented from the resort down the road. This price was 18 CUC but he only filled out 3 of our 4 forms properly and pocketed the 18 CUC. All that aside, the scooters are super fun. The rooms were fine. It was a typical room. The shower in our room had a glass door that was about 1 inch from the tub which resulted in major flooding each time we had a (cold to tepid) shower. We ended up walking around like we were elderly trying not to fall and break our hip) Our room was right beside the stage which means they might as well have hosted the evening show next to my bed. Something to consider if you are traveling with kids. The 2 bars that are closest to the beach are still a bit of a walk, so bring your bubba mugs. Was it all bad? No, not at all. The good: Lydia at the lobby bar was a sweetheart and should be commended by management. She was lovely to us (thanks for making the "J Rocks") We ate at 1 a la carte (Bamboo) and the food was very good. The beach is very nice and there was always lots of loungers and papalas. I had an allergic reaction to some mosquito bites and ended up in the nurses office. She was a very nice lady and had medication delivered to me within an hour. It wasn't cheap, but that was to be expected. I had a benadryl injection, some pills, calamine lotion and cream which cost me 75 cuc. (worth it!!) Tip: take bug repellent and use it! The staff at the reception desk seemed very nice each time I spoke to them as did the staff in the dining room. The evening entertainment one night was a magic show which was very fun. Unfortunately, it rained so it was inside and they weren't able to do the full show. That show is the only one worth watching in my opinion. Location is great too. If you go up the highway to the left you can go to the mall and to the right is downtown. Cabs are pretty cheap and there is a "hop on/hop off" double decker bus that runs all day and you can ride it as many times as you like for 5 cuc. It stops right outside the hotel. To the management, I suggest: get rid of the smell in the dining room (you know it's there) get your bartenders to be friendly (I don't need them to be Mr Rogers but they are rude and there is no need of it) and get some umbrellas around that pool. To travelers: don't spend too much on this place. Please. If it's a good deal: go. But don't expect to get what you don't pay for. Now, all this said, we met a fellow who has been to this place over FORTY times. I don't know what to make of that but I will swear to you, this review is as truthful as I can be.

We changed our room, the first room was terrible, smelly, all broken here and there. But the second room we got was very nice. 42inch flat TV, huge kingsize bed, facing pool, nice view. The bathroom really need some renovation. But this is cuba. We paid 48CUC per person. My wife and me. Majority are Cuban and Canadian in the hotel. The beach worth it. Beautiful water and sand. The food was ok. Lot's of thing I wouldn't have eating, but you can always find something to eat. If you are sick of eating almost same food in Buffet restaurant, make a reservation for other two restaurant, international cusine and Chinese. Worth it. Beer and cocktails were always nice. Remember again, this a a 3 star hotel in Cuba. The hotel should invest and make some renovation.

“Villa Cuba---depends what you want from a vacation!!! ”
Okay! I have been to Cuba 10 times....something like that-I lost track! This was 2nd time at this resort mainly because it was wonderful the first time, 4 years ago. WELL 4 years can make a difference. I think Varadero has changed, most resorts will be affected by increased turnover in guests, more local guests, and just general tiredness of dealing with the same thing as the world around changes. Internet is a lot easier to access for all people, and the airport is more comfortable as well. I will organize my review into sections for better understanding. 1) BEACH: best you can get for the price of staying at this resort. it is on the property, not a long walk, chairs, volleyball, rent a boat and pedal boat ect all the usuals. ONLY DOWNSIDE: no beach bar. BRING LARGE CONTAINER for booze. Thermos style quality will keep ice frozen. 2) ROOM: renovated room is wonderful, large, clean, balcony, fridge, flatscreen tv, working bathroom, ect. no issues, AC works. But really who spends time in the room when on vacation!!!! it was 40 degree weather almost daily, but knowing Canada's climate I soaked it up like a sponge. 3) FOOD: has gotten WORSE from previous year, and I don't think the star-rating matters, it is who the CHEF is in the hotel. Ive had better food in lower-star hotels. Your gonna get the same thing EVERDAY, limited options, loose appetite after a while. There is food around the clock-meals + snack bar (only hot dogs or occasional ham and cheese). A la carte-hard to book, need to wake early, Asian place was DELICIOUS and highly recommend you book your a la carte early on your vacation. 4) DRINKS: 10/10! Everything you want, well made, ample bars, delicious cocktails made on 7th floor lounge (served in glasses), and coffee bar in lobby is also well-made. Try 7 year Legendario rum on the rocks! 5) STAFF: depends who, but you gotta tip for service. Good thing is you see the same faces so you get to know people, not too much turnover and thus good tipping leads to even greater service. Tip EARLY to be in good spirits with staff. It makes sense because many guests are cheap and they seem to take advantage of inclusive booze and wear out the workers. Maid was good, except no clean towels for 2 days straight, had to use beach towel. 6) ENTERTAINMENT: 10/10 amazing team here. Friendly, excellent English, fun loving people. Again, by chance you may get amazing performances from groups but it cannot be planned. I prefer the local talent when drunk guests go on stage and compete, I have some priceless videos! 7) POOL: nice, spacious, clean, but ocean is better! 8) LOCATION: perfect! Close to most clubs so if you like to go out you got: INTERNATIONAL next door, HAVANA CLUB : 3 peso cab, BEATLES BAR: 3 peso cab, CASA LA MUSICA: 6 peso cab, LA RUMBA and PIRATE CAVE are farther. There's not much else, check with entertainment for best night. Sometimes I find in the town of varadero, a random hamburgesa joint will have action, people, music, and the most fun time. Be open, check it out, walk around. 9) GUESTS: mix of tourists and locals, mostly older and families. Some young people, not many, but you get a better experience when your resort is more 'mature' and also the time of the vacation was low-season for students/young people travellers. Major Tips: bring bug spray, you will be happy, avoid sweet smelling perfumes at night. Use towel service from hotel, it is free unless you lose your towel! can change multiple times, better than bathroom towels. Go for food elsewhere when you can for one or 2 meals. Pack condiments to enhance your bland food. Ask for renovated room or building 2. Go to 7th floor lounge for cocktails after dinner! see the view, highest point in varadero (almost!) Buy souvenirs right on the resort, same price, good things, save the hassle of going downtown in the day to shop in the heat. Bring mug/container for larger drinks to carry around and not those little plastic cups!

      “My first vacation ”
This was my first vacation. Although it was a very memorable, relaxing, fun experience the hotel was not all there. The set up of the resort I love. The pool was good. The disgusting stink from the buffet, not so much. The food was bland which I knew about already, but I didn't think it'd be this bad. In comparison with my second trip (at a different resort) the food was much better. Most of the staff were ok. Thankfully we had a nice room with no problems, until you bathe. The shower would leak water all over the floor per shower, creating a huge mess. I'd never go back to this resort.

      “Enjoyable stay ”
First off, I LOVE Cuba! I have visited many times to various resorts, stars, and cities. I travel with a very open mind, solo or with friends, so I don't get easily bothered by some of the small stuff that others complain about. Cubans are amazing, beautiful people! I recently travelled with a friend to Hotel Villa Cuba in Varadero July 31-August 7. We had a great time. Sure there were some things about the resort that need attention but I learn something new and different from each and every resort I visit. We had great, very hot weather the whole week with some phenomenal thunder and lightening storms a few nights and late afternoon. It didn't always rain with the storms and when it did it only poured for a short time. As fast as the rain starts, it stops and dries up. Absolutely nothing to ruin any of our vacation. The Resort: It was close to the airport. The entrance to it was nice, large and open. Check in was easy. I have to say though it was a very challenging finding our room because we arrived at night and were assigned a Casa (not in the main hotel) and no one escorted us to it. The pathways to the Casa's were not well lit at all. I was glad to have my phone with the flashlight feature. The Casa that we were in was 3360 (Room 3364) and the next morning once we found our way around, it was a terrific location, within steps to the beach, lunch snack bar and the pool. Also very close to the lobby (but then again the whole resort was well laid out with easy access to everything). The elevators scattered around the resort were sketchy and didn't always work so at times you would have no choice but to use the stairs. Not a good place for anyone with mobility issues unless you were in a ground level room. I have a hard time understanding some of the negative reviews. Sure the resort is dated and in need of some repairs or updating but most resorts have their own flaws. They don't have gobs of money available to them to keep everything to our modern standards but they do their best to maintain the properties with what they have. If you want modern and new, find a brand new 5 star resort or just stay home. We did not experience problems with other patrons and even though, yes, there were many locals around we didn't have problems with them either. I actually found them quite friendly and unobtrusive. There are very many adorable cats around which we loved, but not all clients shared our love. My travelling companion, along with a Cuban friend of his, sat and talked with the resort management with the hopes of them working with an outside group to have the cats spayed/neutered. We hope the resort accepts the free help which will help eliminate the growth of the cat population on the resort. Villa Cuba is relatively close to the heart of Varadero and we visited it a few times. However, if you step off the resort, remember to bring toilet paper and don't always expect a toilet seat in the public washrooms. You will likely have to tip to get a piece of toilet paper if you don't have your own. We walked to heart of Varadero, the main drag, one afternoon and took the double decker bus another (which stops at the front of the resort). The bus is 5 pesos each for the day and you can get off an on it as often as you want with the piece of paper they give you. We visited La Fondue restaurant and had an great, very inexpensive meal (51 pesos [about $52 Canadian] for 4 people including a meal each, a fondue appetizer between us, 3 beer and a bottle of wine!), then visited "Calle 62", a bar right next door, for a few drinks, then walked further down the strip to The Beatles for more drinks and to listen to live music outside the bar. Lots of people around and very safe. Another day we bussed to the large market further down the strip and went to Lai Lai Chinese restaurant for another great meal. HUGE servings and inexpensive again. Our Casa Room: Large, bright and always clean. Although low to the ground, the beds were firm and always freshly made. Pillows were thick and firm. The closet was very large, tons of space. There were two very small cabinets in each end of the closet which served as dressers. The fridge in the room worked well. But the AC worked just OK, somewhat served it's purpose but not icy cold. The bathroom and balcony were huge, but the balcony was shared with one other room. No face cloths but plenty of towels. The hairdryer worked great except for the fears of the electrical connection. The plug was dangling from the unit and was connected with electrical tape to a wire that hung from behind the mirror (not plugged directly into an outlet!). The shower head I have to say was terrible but we managed. It had great pressure but was a fine spray that went everywhere. There was no fan in the bathroom but it had a window which we left wide open the whole time. It had no screen on it but we didn't have any problems with bugs (a few moths that didn't budge from the ceiling, that's it), and we were on the second floor so no safety worries. We kept the bathroom door closed at all times so the AC would kind of cool the bedroom area. Lots of mirrors between the entry, over the desk, and in the bathroom. But not enough electrical outlets and the two that were available in the bedroom area were very sketchy. No outlet in our bathroom if you had an electric shaver or wanted to use a flat iron in there. Although the resort states it has 220v, our Casa room had 110v. No iron/ironing board either but that was absolutely no issue for us. I didn't get to see a hotel room to make any comparison but we loved the size and location of the Casa. And our maid did a phenomenal job! The Bars: 9th floor bar was nice. Easy to find from the lobby area elevators. Nice views and breezes from the large open windows. The beach bar and snack bar were a short walk from the beach (which was just outside our Casa) and offered a limited selection of drinks during the afternoon. The lobby bar was great and had a large variety of drink options. They would make an effort to make your drink of choice. In the end, I loved the White Russians which they weren't all familiar with. I would go to the coffee bar nearby and get a glass of cold milk and give to the bartender to make the drink. If I didn't get this milk, they would either tell me they had no milk or make an attempt at it by using their powdered milk and making it in the blender which wasn't great at all. The pool bar was good too but we only visited it a few times. Even though the disco was air conditioned, it was usually quiet, as in not a lot of patrons. But it was a nice reprieve from the heat and nice place to relax with a drink, or to have a dance or two. The Beach: Well, it's Cuba so the beach was amazing!! Huge, super clear water and very warm. Sometimes almost not refreshing in the August heat. Never a problem getting a lounger but sometimes finding shade might have been a challenge, but people were always coming and going. It is a public beach so there were often scattered locals spread out but they were never intrusive, even though they sometimes would use a vacant palapa near the resort. One day a family and friends of about 8 brought a cooler of beverages and large containers of food (crab legs, duck, etc.) with them and sat under a palapa near us. They even offered us some of their food, which we graciously declined. How kind of them to even offer! My only problem was they dumped the crab legs in the sand under and around the palapa so the next few days day it was quite smelly in that one spot. We never had a problem leaving our personal items on our loungers and hanging out in the ocean for extended periods of time. The locals didn't touch any of our personal belongings, which was the opposite of my recent experience in Holguin in April. There are no motorized sports whatsoever on the beach at any of the resorts. There were the typical peddle boats, kayaks and Hobie Cats. A few fish in the water but no great snorkelling on the resort. We didn't do any excursions. The Food: The food was very impressive for Cuban standards. We didn't get into any of the a la cartes to make a comparison with the buffets but I found that the buffets always offered a great selection and great tasting options. The chicken and ribs at lunch at the beach snack bar were great as well as the other choices, not to mention the ice cream. Breakfast always had decent choices although their "catsup" was a hit and miss as to its availability. But they always had salad dressings and mustard. Maybe it was the time of year we visited that the food flavourings and choices were better then what I've experienced before. I don't know but I thought it was all very decent and never had any illness issues. But spoons were hard to come by. They were never set at the table with the other silverware and I only saw spoons next to the soup kettles if they had soup at the buffet. Entertainment: The entertainment staff on the beach were friendly and tried their best to get guests involved in activities but it seemed that the guests were in total vacation mode, that or it was just too hot. We only watched one or two evening entertainment shows on the stage by the pool but we enjoyed what we saw and it looked like most other guests did as well. Staff: I found the majority of them to be very friendly and helpful. Cubans are amazing! My Overall Opinion: Speaking for myself, I really enjoyed this resort, the food, the beach (of course) and most everything else we experienced. Sure there were some (unsafe) concerns and other issues but we saw around them and totally enjoyed our stay. Would I return? I would have to say yes. Thank you Villa Cuba for a wonderful vacation.

“NEVER BOOK WITH HOLA SUN! ”
I have been waiting months to write this review. I booked a trip to cuba last October, because it was so last minute, our flight was from Toronto to Havana and then we were provided transportation from Havana to Cuba. Our provider was Hola Sun. First off, check in was fine other than the fact we did not have our baggage because Cubana airlines decided to leave it in Toronto this was Sunday afternoon. Because our Hola Sun representative was done for the day we could not get in contact until the next business day, and hotel management would not call them. At this point no luggage, we did not even have a carry on.. just the clothes we wore to the airport and a handbag. We contacted our hola sun rep who basically did nothing for us, saying it would be on the next flight - low and behold it was not. I had to basically tell a fib to the hola sun provider to get my baggage on the next flight out - of course it was not out. We did not get our luggage until half way through the trip, and what upset me the most is hotel management would not even accommodate us or at least make our trip decent. We didn't even have shampoo in our room!! Hotel management is very poorly run in this hotel. VERY poorly run, and i will never stay at this hotel again with the experience they provided - by the third day when we did not receive our luggage we actually waited until management contacted our representative right as we were there. I know it is not management fault, but nothing to even accommodate. The hotel itself is ok, the best part of the hotel is the entertainment crew. Another con is that I would wake up with red marks all over my legs, not sure what it was I assumed sand ants. Needless to say, first and last trip to villa cuba.

room was beautiful with a beautiful view. however bathroom was old and lots of ants and lizards in the room. food wasnt too bad but something from either the food or their fountain water made me sick. I couldnt have fun because my stomach was hurting me everyday. Most staff were only nice to my boyfriend because he spoke spanish and most of the time I felt ignored by them. some of them were nice to both of us though. beach and pool was good and nice to relax on. i didnt expect much so i wasnt too disappointed. you get what you pay for.

“Not so bad, but wouldn't return ”
This was a great girls trip, food was on repeat but edible , the beach buffet at lunch was great. The beach great, room bugless.. Which apparently isn't a regular thing. Small resort, always bumping into the same people, which isn't for me. I would not return but if arnt so picky this place is a good 3 star. We weren't lucky we went on a week where there was 300 16 to 19 year olds who were drunk /sick and getting it on all over the place & breaking things . This is absolutely not a family resort. And I was very happy not to have brought my son with me. If you are looking for a better place I was told the barcelo solymar and other hotels slightly closer to town were quieter and cleaner. I payed for a 4* and got a 3* so I can't say it was the absolute worst. I have travelled to many all inclusive in the last few years, and this was my second to varadero , but I would definitely stay elsewhere if I returned . Good luck.

“You get what you pay for (June 21-28)”
Being a 3 star resort in Cuba, you can't expect much. Location is great, beach is gorgeous, but not well-maintained (ie. litter everywhere especially towards the end of the week), staff is friendly and pleasant and do their best to help you out, but that's about where the perks end. The food is terrible (this was my third time in Cuba and I have never suffered so much following a week-long vacation), the beach towel service was out of clean towels 3 days in a row, the whole resort smells mouldy and old (pool area, lobby, rooms), the bathrooms within the rooms were disgusting (toilet leaked water at every flush, bathtub was black), we had a 5th floor room and there were cockroaches (thankfully only seen on the last day) and lastly in order to book the a la carte restaurants you had to waste 30mins to an hour every morning in a line because they refused to accept reservations for future dates. Overall, if you don't plan on spending too much time at the actual resort, this hotel is for you, but I would not recommend it for first-time travellers to Cuba because it would definitely turn you off any future visits.

“Tired hotel but still great! ”
I typically only go to 5 star resorts with my husband but for a last minute trip booked this resort with my sister for a week away.First the positives the staff was amazing, food surprisingly good, drinks good as well. The pools and setting was beautiful enjoyed the music and entertainment. The hotel itself was a little tired but with a little bit of money it could really be something! Lots of character we fed the cats which the hotel thankfully were very tolerant unlike some resorts which poison them. The Divi in Aruba 10 years ago would but poison out for the birds and dogs because some guests complained. Overall a solid 7 out of 10 for the money good value. I think the owners should get a new manager because the staff at the bars and coffee bar were selling bottle of booze "under the table to guests" . The Hotel is losing alot of money by this which could go into sprucing up the rooms. Management is a little too lax in my opinion. Actually never saw a manger during my week visit.

“COMFORTABLE AND GREAT FOR THE PRICE”
I just got back from this hotel. The staff are very helpful especially the bell boys and the receptionists. The bar at the mirador is the best. You will taste authentic pina colada. The pool bar needs improvement. The drinks vary on the bartender. They all make the drinks different. Pool bar is just slush drinks with tons of alcohol in it. I dont like the fact that the cups were small and plastic. Wish the Mirador bar was opened all day but unfortunately they open at 7pm and close at 1am. The buffet was ok. Very repetative though. The rice and fish were really good though. I would recommend that they keep their food in proper temperature though. I would also recommend that they cover their desserts. I saw ants crawling in Some of the desserts which was not very appetizing. Go eat the food as soon as they open because the food is fresh and stocked. Bamboo was the best especially the soups. My room was always clean after lunch. Beach is beautiful and there is so much space. Shows are great and so much fun. The nightclub is ok is you dont mind waiting until 1am to party with 10 ppl. Not alot of ppl go to it which is such a shame. Maybe if the entertaiment staff promoted the nightclub more or add activities I the nightclub people will end up going. Havana club was the best. And go to cave nightclub on mondays because ders no one there During the rest of the week. Catamaran was amazing and not expensive for everything that it includes.

      “What a pleasant surprise! ”
After 20plus years of vacationing in Puerto Vallarta, we caved and went to Villa Cuba for two weeks April 2014. We travelled with family who have stayed there many times. Many of the reviews that I read made me very apprehensive! Keep in mind, folks, this resort does not advertise itself as 5 star! The room was large and comfortable and quiet (on the garden side of the hotel) Buffet restaurant was adequate with some unusual dishes served (remember, you're not in Canada!) The meals served at all of the other restaurants were very good, some excellent. We certainly did not encounter any of the rude staff that some reviewers have spoken of. Without exception, the staff at all facilities were very efficient, and friendly. Staff at the Coffee Bar and all of the other bars were a delight. We look forward to returning to Villa Cuba again next spring. We were Hooked by Day 2!

We stayed at Villa Cuba from April 11- 25 and had another great vacation !!! This hotel is under rated. Since we have been staying many improvements have been made. The new General manager is a woman who listens and seems to be getting things done. The food is Cuban food, and is good. I think that those who are complaining are expecting Canadian food. I heard people talking about the food at a new 5 star and it didn't sound better than at Villa Cuba. The entertainment is good and most of the staff are great. Please and thank you will get you more than a big tip. I have noticed that some guests treat servers badly, perhaps that is why we read that the staff are miserable, because I haven't seen that. Some of the stars of the resort are George, Carlos and Evidio at the Lobby/Coffee bar, Humberto rocks the Beach bar , Otton and the crew at the Pool bar the best Bar and staff can be found up on the 9th floor Miridor bar. This gem is open from 7:00- 1:00am and it the best place to chill out and have drinks that are above all of the other bars at the resort. The Sitio serves lovely Cuban style food under the watchful eye of Geordio and is well worth the visit, Maripossa with Earnesto and his awesome team is a romantic kind of dinner place and the Bamboo, is food cooked with passion and love. Kienna and the team there are wonderful and gracious. We will be back in November and know that a relaxing vacation awaits us.

      “Great location ”
I have been to Cuba 4 times now... Lets be honest you don't go to Cuba for the food! We went on a girls vacation and I will say this hotel was close to the clubs and shopping. During the day we took the double decker bus and toured around. The staff was a bit miserable, don't get me wrong there was some real great people there but for the majority of the time people seemed inconvenienced to answer your questions. The hotel is huge, there are a ton of stairs and the elevators were slow. The food... YUK. Get to the al la carte before 10 am or you will not get a reservation (we didn't get one) I heard the food was better there. The beach was amazing! I am not much of a pool person but I did enjoy the pools. The entertainment was meh. Loved the coffee bar. Our room was infested with ants, they sprayed but the ants came back, or never left. I was eaten alive by mosquitos (my friends were not) so I would suggest tea tree oil or bug spray of some sort. Would I go back to this hotel? Prob not... Simply because I like to check out different places each time! One suggestion for the hotel, get a bar on the beach!

Villa Cuba hotel is located beachfront on Varadero Beach, 10 minutes from downtown and 28 km from the Varadero airport. That was the third time for me and my wife going for vacation in that hotel. The beach is unbelievable. Shallow, clear, warm water and white ,fine sand . You can jumpin the water at any time of day.You can't find that kind of sand anywhere else in Europe.Hotel itself is dated, need some repair and upgrade . I would say that all Cuba need an upgrade, not hotel only. Cuban food isn't a mediterranean one, but you always can get something to eat. After all, we would like to loose some weight! Staff is nice and friendly. Keep in mind that you are spending about 30$/day in a all inclusive resort. In Europe ( mediterranean sea) you will be spending 100 euro minimun per room only, not to mention food , drinks ect, so DON'T expect same conditions in Cuba. From Villa Cuba staff I would like to mention food menager Valia , Roque, Raydel and Luis at the beach bar that are realy helpful , nice and always smiling. That makes my day and I will go back again.

The beach was beautiful. Hotel not far from downtown Varadero. Had a wonderful time. Had a problem with first room and they switched me to another room right away.. The service was good. Well first of all there's always bad & good. Also you cant pls. everyone no matter where you go or how many stars. Just go have fun with open minded. We travel 9 ppl. with Cubana Airlines without complaints at all everything went well. We been here before several times at the Hotel Villa Cuba without expectation. We always have lots of fun here. Specially by beach is one of the best. During our stays in this resorts too many locals tourists. A few problems with the local tourists. They have no respect for the line-up at the buffet or anywhere bars, front desk, etc. Also they stole my baseball cap incl.my gf watch which was on top of the table & we know who did it, but it's all good. The staffs didn't do it but the local tourists what ashamed. Rooms was awesome ocean view, 32 inch.flat screen tv, mini fridge & European washroom style. The only problem is they give you 1 bottle of water for the whole week( NOT GOOD). The wash room door wasn't closing properly. 2 Ala carte's Mariposa & Bamboo both are great place to eat. Swimming pool is great clean every morning and the sky bar is awesome one of the best pinacolada. Thanks to Mariposa staffs for the special birthday cake to my friend, Special thanks to Yadirai, Anabela incl.the front desk staffs you girls rock & Jovier that's why we are always coming back to this resorts. Keep it up the good work and god bless to all of you and will see you soon again. Ms.Ailin pls. regards to them they're doing a great job. Tips: Exchange your money at the varadero airport better than anywhere or at the cadeca downtown varadero and must bring your passport, renting moped must bring your license. Saturday night clubs(Havana club 5 cuc entrance fee) Sunday night (Internacional clubs 10 cuc )Monday night( Pirata Cueva 10 cuc) Cerveja 2 cuc. All my friends had a blasts during our stays from July 26-Aug.2,2014. Hotel Villa Cuba Muchos Gracias...See you soon

      “Amazing resort. Great location. ”
I stayed at Hotel Villa Cuba for one week during July. It is a great resort. The pools are amazing, and the drinks are fantastic. The staff were all friendly and professional, and made me feel welcome. The hotel is located right on the beach, and only a ten minute bus ride from the city centre of Varadero. It was quite clean and the rooms were decent. One thing that really annoyed my friend and I was that the shower only had half a door, so a lot of water would leak out onto the floor and there would be a puddle until the maid came in and cleaned it the next day. The beds were okay and comfortable enough to sleep in. There was a safe in the room as well, which was very handy. The food was not the greatest. Whatever we had was usually bland and just did not taste good. Now back to the drinks. The two bars, one by the pool and one on the 3rd floor, we're pretty good. They served pretty great drinks but the best bar is on the 9th floor. I had the BEST drinks up there. It's also an amazing view of the resort and ocean. Getting to the 9th floor is slightly tricky though. You can only reach it through one set of elevators, so I would ask the staff where to go. Overall, I had an amazing experience at Hotel Villa Cuba and would gladly go back again :)

“Cool Place, Food could improve ”
I was immediately impressed when I first entered the Villa Cuba. The layout is very cool and original for a resort, the level of detail that went into the decor was really nice - especially around the coffee bar and main bar in the hotel. The rooms were nice - most impressive was the safe which actually opened with one of the room keys- very cool! The pool was amazing - I really loved it. The beach as well is the best I have ever seen. I was super impressed by the Pina Coladas - which they actually made right there (unless you got them at the pool bar.) Most of these resorts just grab them from the slushie machine, but the Villa Cuba crushes the ice and blends it with coconut milk and pineapple juice. Amazing. On to the food.... The "Bamboo" a la carte was delicious. Ate their twice during my stay. The lunch down by the beach was also quite good. I found my eating options at the buffet dwindled over the week - at first I had a full plate with salad and cooked veggies and it was all good, but by the end of my stay all I could eat was the pasta. I recommend the orange-pineapple icecream. The clinic was also very good - my compliments to the woman working there, she was very helpful. One negative thing I will mention is the smell - when you are on the lower level there is a strong sewage smell. Also- be prepared to be climbing lots of stairs! (that's a good thing, keeps you fit!) I heard this is one of the only Cuban-owned resorts. That's one reason why I'd recommend it- If it's true, that means your money is going to the right people. I was also very impressed at how well most of the staff spoke english!

I have nothing bad to say about Villa Cuba I read all the reviews and this is mine I am going back again for the 9th time on July 19th for two weeks. Its Cuba you go for the beach as long as my room is clean and I food in my tummy all is good. The hotel staff everyone to the gardener to the ones who clean the bathroom floors I take my hat off to all of you They are in the sun all day fully dressed and have to in a way serve us who are enjoying the water the booze and are in bathing suits we get hot we jump in the pool. If we all cleaned up after ourselves the bathroom would not be a mess dont complain that it is dirty it is one of us not the Maid who made the mess she is doing her best. The food , it may not be what you eat at home and may not always be to your liking or hot. These people are cooking for over 400 people at a time You try it. The one who makes you eggs in the morning, She cooks over 300 a morning do you see her complain that she is hot beind the grill. Give them a break. I go with an open heart and mind and all the staff have become my friends If you are nice to them they are nice to you and it is not the tipping I am talking about it is the respect. They do work hard and they do have bad days just like we do.I am already packed and ready to be their July 19th 2014

      “Good vacation over all ”
Just came back from Villa Cuba last week ( June 21-28) and it was quite a good vacation with some GOODs and BADs. The GOODs: Staffs are nice and welcoming, speak understandable English. Food: I had no issue with the food. Was repetitive though, but the buffet had enough options to choose so no complain actually. Try the bamboo and Le Maripeso ( serving is very slow though) Drinks: I am missing pina colada already. Never had to wait for a drink. Dont miss fresh coconut water. One or two bartenders were weird though, they will say I dont have this drink ( I guess they dont want to serve if you dont tip) Rooms: Clean, AC worked fine, rooms are little old but had everything you need. The the maid came everyday and did a good job with the cleaning. Beach was excellent with paddle boats and canoes, you can go to snorkelling with 15 CUC which should have been included in the package as they use non motorized sailing boats to go to the snorkelling place. But dont miss it. The ninth floor viewing was amazing. Thanks to Allex and Ariana for the coffees and drinks with nice smile all the time. Nice pool. The shows were OK. Same kind of salsa every night with annoying hosts who speak very fast Spanish. The hosts should speak more in English. The hotel is secured and hassle free. The BADs They should serve at least few different dishes on different days of the week at the buffet. Elevators are the slowest ones. Though most of the staffs, waiters, and bartenders will still be good either you tip or not but some are pretty off the manner. They say "NO" just like "you cant have this" instead of "Sorry we are out of this service at this moment". I heard in some rooms, people found bed bugs and cockroaches. Overall, I have enjoyed my stay with my wife and will return with a good deal ( $500 +- including taxes each) To the management: Should take action against few particular staffs as only few of them can make travellers impression very negative. At the beach bar, I asked 3 days for pina colada and the same person every time told me very rudely "I dont have pina colada" instead served very ordinary drinks which. I forgot his name but he is a short guy most of the time at the beach bar. Staffs expect tip on every single drinks they serve which is not practical. Le Maripeso and Bamboo waiters are too slow in serving.

We were in Villa Cuba the winter of February 2012 and thought it was just great. The food was good, the service awesome and the room couldn't be beat. The following year we went to another resort, Kawama and it was pretty good, but not nearly as good as Villa Cuba. This year in February 2104, we stayed at the Breezes, a four star. Room was divine, but the food was just terrible. For supper I would only eat soup as that was what was best, and even then, there were a couple of times that the soup was bad. We would never go back there again. We plan to go back to Villa Cuba as we found it to be a little slice of heaven. But, we need a villa to stay in to make it perfect.

We stayed 2 weeks April 11 - 25. We keep coming to this hotel because it feels like you're welcomed and appreciated by the management and staff. This is an older hotel that has many good points and some bad, but overall if you keep an open mind and realize where you are visiting this hotel gives you everything you need and then some. If you are a repeat customer they recognize that fact and the little extras you might get for that can make you realize that they really care about your time with them. We have many memories of our times at Villa Cuba and the more we see of the country, Cuba has a lot of diverse people and places. We will continue to visit Villa Cuba in the future and look forward to exploring more. Thank you management and great staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

“Villa Cuba esta mi casa away from home! ”
Spent out 25th anniversary at Villa Cuba and had a blast! It is an older hotel with a ton of character. The room was nice (typical Cuban décor) and very clean. Our room was above the stage for the shows so we watched from above! With 3 pools it was never too crowded. The beach was lovely and clean. The Bamboo a la carte is the best! The buffet was good as well...fresh squeezed OJ in the morning, YUM. The staff are amazing and fun and desperately tried to teach me Spanish! Don't pass up the chance to go to the "look out bar", the pina coladas and mojitos are the best! And at 5 cuc you can safely catch the bus and ride all day. There are many markets and patios to enjoy; or just take the bus in a complete route to see the entire peninsula.

“CUBA SI VILLA CUBA SI!!! ”
I just returned from Villa Cuba Hotel. It was my 2nd time there and not my last either. I've been to Cuba about half a dozen times in the past few years and notice improvement everytime I go back. As for the Villa Cuba Resort, apart from an elevator that breaks down every now and then, I can not complain considering the cost to go there. The staff are great and very friendly, well located close to downtown, the beach in beautiful, the pool is unique, it starts with shallow water and gets deeper as you walk. As for the food, I am a picky eater so the buffet isn't ideal, but I did get to reserve the "a la carte" restaurants 5 times, which served very good food. The animators "ESNEY, ANGIE, SAMUEL, LOUIS, and IVAN are amazing and make the stay much more pleasant. I will defenatley go back there...

      “Welcoming Hotel ”
I go to Cuba twice a year, April and September. I always stay at Villa Cuba. Love this place. I have never had any problems with any negativity with the staff. They may come across to some as being rude, but they are not. Some don't speak English and don't understand all that you say and get frustrated. They try, but this is a Spanish country and this is what they speak. I don't understand much Spanish, but do the best I can. The food at the buffet is good. Sometimes, it's not as hot as it could be, but it is tasty. The specialty restaurants are excellent. If you like hot sauce with your food, then bring it with you in your suitcase. They cook for the general tourists and a lot of people can't have spicy food, me for one. They have a great bar called Extasis and the view of the sunset is fantastic. You will never get a better view. I hope you will give it a try and enjoy it as much as I do.

      “Back to basics............. ”
Just a heads up on Villa Cuba. The location is marvelous. Close to town walking or taking a taxi or any other mode of transport. This hotel is really for those who want to lay back and relax. The beach is the best here. The main pool is clean and refreshing. Some Villa's on the resort have swimming pools for those who stay in the villa's all are maintained daily. The grounds of Villa Cuba are gorgeous with tropical plants and tree's in every state of bloom. The gardeners are happy to discuss their charges and will even snip a piece off for transplant at home. ( yes I know not legal but we all do it ! ) The food is bland to most, but why not carry a small care packet with you with the things you like, garlic, chili's, and ketchup. There is always something available. The staff of Villa Cuba is what has us going back. From the Doorman, Bellboys, reception desk ( who only hear complaints as they do here ) dining room staff everyone responds to a good morning. The rooms are bright and airy in all mode of rooms. The new social activity group are wonderful, the shows in the evenings are interesting and fun for all. This is not a fancy hotel which you can certainly enjoy and pay for this is a come as you are laid back relaxing hotel. I would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a relaxing laidback trip. Going back in September and know exactly what to expect and enjoy.

      “Great location ”
There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages to this resort. It is very close to town which is it's biggest advantage. One day I walked to town and it only took about 30 min. The night entertainment at the resort isn't good so you need to go to the nightclubs off resort if you want to party and they are very fun. The staff will tell you which club to go to throughout the day and they organize the cabs there. It generally only costs $1 to get to the club because everyone pitches in for the cab. The food isn't bad but there is a restaurant across the street which is really good. Food is really good in Cuba... when you eat off resort. The pool has a weird smell but I didn't go to Cuba to swim in a pool I went for the ocean and the beaches were gorgeous. The rooms are a little outdated and I didn't have hot water for showers which was pretty annoying. It is a good hotel for the price but if you have high expectations it may not be the resort for you

      “Relaxed atmosphere... ”
This pleasant hotel is located beachfront on Varadero Beach, 10 minutes from downtown and 28 km from the Varadero airport. It was my first trip to Cuba and it was fantastic. Back then I was living in Russia, St-Petersburg, so my trip was quite long. And the first thing that I saw was an amazing beach!.. So right away I forgot I was so tired... It is so perfect, believe me! Such an awesome place for your romantic vacation! Food was great, stuff was pleasant, our room was clean and very comfortable. One thing I could complain about was very noisy animation... If you want to sleep at 9 or 10 pm and wake up for some beautiful sunrise, the music from evening parties will disturb you for a bit... Anyway, it's such a minor complain comparing to other amenities, so you don't need to take it into consideration especially if you enjoy evening shows :) One man from the hotel (it's a pity I don't remember his name) took us to Havana for a whole day in his car with another couple - cheaper than regular excursions - so just ask stuff, I'm sure they will recommend the best option. The best bar is on the last floor - the view from there is amazing... Also I really enjoyed a little library with free books from other people by the pool. Feel free to leave your books that you already read! Just go there and have tons of memories for the rest of your life! ;-) PS: don't forget to visit 'a castle' just across the road... It's a great place for photo sessions!

Very positive experience! Hotel is great, buffet restaurant too. I like very much the Bamboo restaurant, but El Sitio restaurant should get better. The beach is wonderful, the crew is very friendly and helpful. I like so much the Pina Colada in the Mirador bar, this is the best so far in Cuba! There are so many cats in the gardens and some lizards in the room, but it's okay. I should definitely return here!

      “This hotel is fabulous! ”
I have been to this hotel many times and I am never disappointed. The beach is beautiful, the staff are very friendly, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The Mariposa and Bamboo restaurants have really good food and the staff are great. The 9th floor bar has an awesome view at sunset and the two gentlemen who work there are very nice. The pool bar staff at night are kind of rude, but Otten, who works during the day, is a lovely man. The animation staff are the most unfriendly people I have ever met. If you say hello, you are met with a blank stare. They walk around looking bored and the activities are repetitive. The nightly shows are usually dancing but the magic show is awesome. That's the only one I try to see. The other shows have been the same for years so if you've seen them once.... They also have a band that plays in the restaurant at lunch, sometimes dinner, and at the pool bar. Again, these guys have been here for years and if you clap politely at the end of their songs, they run up and stick a CD in your face to try and get you to buy it, which is really annoying when you are trying to eat. The food is good here but the temperature is not hot enough, except for the soup, which is delicious and very hot! There are a lot of different options to choose from at the buffet so going hungry is not going to happen. Even if you are a picky eater, you should find something to eat. The staff at the buffet are nice, especially Leo. He is very quick to get you a drink or take your plate away. He is such a sweetheart and such a hard worker. I look forward to seeing his smile every time I go there. The only negative thing about this hotel would be some of the other guests. Some of them are loud, rude, messy, drunk, and complain about everything. I know they are vacation, but good manners and being a decent human being should always be a priority, no matter where you are.

“Can't wait to return to Villa Cuba ”
I have been to this hotel many times and will continue to make this my reosrt of choice. this hotel is nothing fance certainly not a 5 star but it's clean and more then meets my comfort level. I honestly can't understand why people say the food isn't good. I have never found the food to be an issue. The Ala Cartes, Maripossa, Bamboo and Ranchon are excellent!! Yes, the buffet can be a bit boring at times but we can always find something to eat. The beach GORGEOUS! enought said! Very close to town for discos, shopping and sight seeing. The staff are truly awsome. They really do make our trip. It's so nice to hear "Welcome Home" from the first person who sees you, whether it's the security, bellboy or frontdesk staff. These people work extremely long hours and work very hard for the few dollars a month they get for their wages. I have nothing but respect for the management and all staff at Hotel Villa Cuba. From the amount of repeaters who return to this hotel goes to show that someone is doing something right! If I could make one suggestion it would be to fix the eleavators. So yes, I would highly recommend Hotel Villa Cuba as your resort while staying in Varadero.

      Nice, comfortable
The Hotel Club Villa Cuba Resort, in the world-famous beach resort of Varadero, is located in the neighborhood of La Torre, on one of the best beach areas in that tourist destination. The establishment, situated on a white-sand beach bathed by the blue sea, is a simple and comfortable hotel complemented by a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. In addition, guests will enjoy a wide range of nautical sports or just sunbathe on the beach. The hotel, which consists of a main building and villas, is 20 kilometers away from Varadero's international airport.
