  • Description: El Castillo Hotel Cuba

The Castillo Hotel (The Castle Hotel) is located on a hill that can be seen from anywhere in the city, with excellent views of Baracoa city and its surroundings. The hotel is a historical place, built in 1737 to 1742, when it was a Spanish fortress called “Ceboruco Castle, or Santa Barbara Castle”. This fortress was built to defend the city from pirates and corsairs attacks, and then went to be a police headquarters until the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959. The Castle Hotel offers accommodations, foods a la carte with a varied offer of local typical dishes, snacks, national and international drinks, what makes it an ideal place for the healthy recreation, and is very close to the Baracoa city

    good, very next to Baracoa
El Castillo hotel (The Castle) is the result of the adaptation of an old colonial fort (Sanguily Fort), built in 18th Century with a privileged location at the top of a hill.

“You don't have to stay here to benefit from the views ”
The location is great, on a hill overlooking both bays and Yunque. Remember you don't have to stay there to be able to use the bar/restaurant and benefit from the views. We heard good reviews of Casas. The new part of the hotel have balconies and face out over Yunque and the bay. It's a stunning view particularly at sunset. However, these rooms have adjoining doors with no sound insulation so we had to move when the family with crying baby moved in next door. The rooms in the old part are adjacent to the pool and bar area and have views of the town. Not as spectacular views as the new part. In the end, after our tour of alternative rooms we got a room in the new part with no view and no joining door Room 120. However it was significantly dirtier than the first room we had. Even when we complained it only marginally improved. Is there any excuse for dirty rooms? On our first day we had to wait 6 hours for towels. So, if you have to...then chose your room with care.
