The main objective of this institution is to preserve research and promote the historical legacy of the wise German Alejandro von Humboldt. It was inaugurated by the Office of the Historian of Havana in October 31st, 1997, in a 18th century building. The Alejandro von Humboldt Museum has five exhibition rooms, one of the with a permanent exposition showing pictures, books, scientific tools and copies of original documents, perfectly ordered and identified, concerning the life of the wise German, as well as his work in science, and his close relation with Cuba in terms of nature and society.

The other four rooms hold transitory exhibitions of a great scientific and cultural importance, related to the environment, ecology, nature and natural sciences and society. The prestigious institution, located in the ancient part of Havana, enhances the labour of Cuban and international personalities whose contributions are considered relevant for the development of culture in general terms. The House also has a conference room with capacity for 100 persons and a specialized library on German literature. The upstairs floor has four available cabins to rent. They host those persons who due to temporary work or distance from their original places adopt this service. Reservations should be previously coordinated with the Direction of Patrimony of the Office of the Historian of Havana

Alejandro de Humboldt Museum is located in Havana

Capital of Cuba and the country's administrative, political, cultural and scientific center, it is also the capital of two provinces: City of Havana and Havana. Though only around 280 square miles (727 square kilometers) in size-0.65 percent of the archipelago's total area.

The Old Havana and system of forts led UNESCO to declare it a part of world heritage in 1982. Founded on its present site in 1519, the settlement of San Cristobal de La Habana prospered mainly due to its bay, which was a natural port of call for ships sailing to and from the New World. Starting in 1634, because of its strategic location, San Cristobal de La Habana was considered the key to the New World-as attested to by royal letters patent-and the main defense of the West Indies.

The Cuban capital consists of an immense number of buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, built in the course of nearly five centuries. These styles range from the pre-baroque to the baroque, neo-Gothic, neoclassical, eclectic, art noveau and art-deco, to the modern.

Alejo Carpentier, one of Cuba's most famous authors, called it "the city of columns" and focused attention on its streets, which he considered a perennially rich show of life, humanity and contrasts that was bound to entertain any observer.

Over 14 kilometers of excellent beaches lie to the east of the Cuban capital. To the south, a green belt contributes to a healthful atmosphere.

Review about Museums: Alejandro de Humboldt Museum
Very good Elena

House of Alejandro de Humboldt
It was owned by the Recio Family, and me current construction dates back to early 19tb century. In the 20th century it was used for commercial work. Devoted today to recalling the stay of the German scientist in the city, his research or our nature and Cuba’s social problems, as well as his relevance in the development of world science. It hosts scientific events and others of its kind.
