La Estrella Town is located in Cayo Santa Maria
Cayo Santa Maria, which is 13 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide, boasts 11 kilometers of excellent beaches and is linked to the big island by a causeway on the sea. For those visiting the area, Ensenachos boasts one of the best beaches.
A 48-km-long road on the sea connects the largest island of the Cuban archipelago with Santa Maria, Las Brujas, Ensenachos among other keys. There is an air terminal on Cayo Las Brujas to receive small- and medium-size planes.
The islet, which was designated a "Biosphere Reserve" by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), is inhabited by a wide range of animals, including ten endemic species.
Cayo Santa Maria is also home to large colonies of flamingos, seagulls and anhingas, as well as iguanas, mollusks and the so-called shrike bird. Other birds living on the key are the tocororo (Cuban trogon), which is Cuba's national bird, as well as woodpeckers and hawks.
Animal diversity is complemented with the region's exuberant flora, made up of 248 species, including 91 medicinal, 72 timber, 41 resign-producing and 40 ornamental species.
The key holds remnants of pre-Columbian cultures in caverns near the beaches, which boast beautiful underwater seascapes.
Another singularity of the region is the San Pascual boat, which ran aground near Cayo Frances almost 70 years ago, and has become a naval rarity, since it was made of reinforced concrete in San Francisco, California, in 1920. Also known by the local people as El Ponton, many consider the ship another islet. It offers vacationers the amenities of its 10 cabins and an enviable location to enjoy the region's attractions.
Nature itself has created the conditions for leisure, including a coral reef that attenuates the force of winds and waves, thus creating a unique environment to welcome thousands of vacationers who visit the region every year.

“Not worth it ”
The people were rude, it was sooo hot and I found it very expensive. Maybe it was because it was off season but it was dead too! Stay at your resort and enjoy the beach.
“Small, quiet and artificial Cuban village ”
This is a small fake village in between Memories and the Royalton. They have artisans, restaurants, cafes, cigar shop, and a nightclub. This place is dead but worth checking out if you're bored at the resort. It's only a 5 minute walk.
“Good for shopping ”
Check out the Canchanchara at the 'Honey House'. Purchase good cigars and rum at better prices than on the resorts.
“Excellent market ”
Nice to have at 5 minutes of the hotel a place to buy cubain souvenirs. Nice as well the train to get there.
“Pueblo visit ”
We went to the pueblos to do some shopping. There were many great Cuban souvenirs, but as it was November and during the low season, there were not that many tourists exploring. There were some vendors who were selling lots of souvenirs.
“Great souvenir place ”
We liked the proximity of the pueblo to our hotel. Great place to get your classic cuban souvenirs an have some food at many different restaurants to choose from.
“Go early to avoid the heat. ”
There are two markets located on Cayo Santa Maria --- one at the Peublo la Estella and one located at the Melia Los Dunas. However, the Estrella is much larger. GO EARLY IN THE MORNING TO AVOID THE HEAT - Phew, it gets HOT on that pavement.
Pool and bowling was good for a drink, Casa De habano was a neat experience. We loved all the trinkets they sold at the market. Some nights we would just drink and smoke in the streets and enjoy the Cuban sky.
“worth going there ”
I went there from Iberostar Ensenacho resort with tour bus for 1 pesos very nice ride you have chance to see all the resorts because bus is picking up people from all of them. If you need to buy souvenirs go there its worth going there for example one magnet in the resort was 5 pesos and at market place... More
“Cute little market place ”
Barely any shade but enjoyed walking around seeing the shops and have a couple drinks and lunch. Got some amazing photos there as well!
