Covarrubias beach it’s located at Tunas province, dipped by the warms waters of the Atlantic. It allows the visitor the enjoyment of a beautiful beach with fine sand and transparent waters that hide one of the greatest coralline seascapes of the island, the visitor will also delight exploring the speleological system inhabited of a hundred sea’s species.

Covarrubias Beach is located in Las Tunas

Las Tunas province strectches over the imaginary triangle formed by the provinces of Camaguey, Holguin and Granma. Its capital is the homonimous city of Las Tunas, also known as Balcón del Oriente Cubano (the balcony of the Cuban eastern part) and Ciudad de las Esculturas (the city of sculptures). Vicente Garcia, an important personality of the Guerra de Los Diez Años (Ten Years War) and president of the Republic during the war, was born in the center of this city, the only one burned three times by the mambises during the independing wars.

That is the reason why nowadays we can only see the remnants of what was the Spanish´s Cavalry Quarter, and why the original colonial architecture has vanished to give way to the eclectic and art-deco styles it shows todays . Sculptures like La Fuente de Las Antillas ( The Antilles´Fountain) , one of the main pieces of work of the notorious artist Rita Longa, are a sample of the cultural expressions in that province , where continuous homage is devoted to the National Hero Jose Marti , to whom a particular square was built with a solar clock revealing the different periods of his life through shade and light cones.

There are different places here for you to spend a charming night, but the sixty- year-old theater named after the city is the proper cultural institution to end up your day. The Jornada Cucalambeana ( Cucalambe´s Week), the main festivity of Cuban countrymen, is the main cultural event it hosts. Puerto Padre is an urban enclave that welcomes you with the Fuerte de la Loma , the national monument that served the Spanish troops as quarter during the Guerra de los Diez Años (Ten Years War).

Covarrubias beach is located 40 kms from there and has a hotel line in first line of beach , characterized by wonderful morphological conditions: virgin vegetation and an average eight ms wide sand strip where tourists enjoy its thin cream colored grains and tropical sun. The tourist complex , 1,5 kms from the coast, makes easier the acces to a 6 kms long coral reef , formed by abundant black coral and several types of loofas. Other areas of this province are characterized by its abundant vegetation and birdlife, but Cabaniguan mount is the most priviledged of them. In that Protected Area is located the world biggest acutus or american crocodile breeding farm. However, not only saurians attract visitants, equally seductive are the songs of birds flying over the waters or the trees. Las Tunas has a lot of things to show you due to its shared priviledged position in the Atlantic Ocean which surrounds her northern and southern coasts .
