Description: Iberostar Parque Central Hotel Cuba
Unique in Old Havana, this postmodern architectural melange includes elements spanning centuries, combining colonial and modern times with a dashing flair. The best of its category in Old Havana, it has several hundred rooms but still provides intimate spaces for its clients. It’s a feel-good hotel, especially seated in the lobby under the expansive skylight. This is a wonderful place to while away the hours, and is full of tropical woodwork and lush greenery. The rough-hewn tiled floor, daring colors and thick plants make for an unequalled combination, and one may even catch a musical group performing on the stairs. The hotel’s acquisitions include pieces from Cuba’s best contemporary artists like Sosa Bravo, Flora Font and Adigio. The rooftop swimming pool is a dream-come-true, offering a skyline city view and a multitude of museums, galleries and cafés below. There is a separate mezzanine lounge called the Alameda, a perfect spot to read a book or play a game of chess. It has its own bar, is perfect for welcome cocktails and small meetings, and has been used for book signings and seminars.

“OK place for Cuba ”
While the positives have been noted by other reviewers, not remarked upon is the poor service at the bar---slow with waiters overcharging or failing to return with change. Maid service was very weak. My maid did the minimum possible, ignoring dirt in the closet, closet hangers on the closet floor and other details. The mini-bar was never restocked, forcing me to roam the neighborhood searching out hard to find places to buy bottled water. The bottle opener I requested from the front desk never arrived. The front desk people made a point of finding other things to do while I stood in front of them for 10 minutes to ask a question.I was glad to get out of there.
“Ordinary hotel, good location, great rooftop pool ”
we elected to stay here (4nights) on the basis of the TA reviews which in my opinion significantly over-rate this hotel. Reception- good Lobby- pleasant with colonial feel but v expensive cocktails and shockingly expensive bottles of water. Wi-fi - APPALLING!!!! Doesn't work and just bins you off line and then burns up all your time/money. I had to argue forcefully to get a refund Restaurant - food cold, mediocre and overpriced. Breakfast - usual buffet but very crowded. Lots of choice. The good stuff runs out though and doesn't get replaced very promptly (a familiar problem with this style of breakfast) Rooms - decent size but disappointingly lacking in any character or colonial charm. We were in the old part hoping for something a bit different but it was basically a somewhat jaded basic room and bathroom could do with a refit. TV - yes 40 channels but little one would watch....but hey that's not what we visited Cuba for Building works......pretty intrusive during the day. They managed to shut the water off for the whole of one day! Pool - well you will have googled the pics and it is just as you see. Location is good near to old quarter and Capitol On the whole it is ok but not special. I felt it is overpriced for Cuba and certainly not 5*. There are more hotels being developed in some of the buildings being restored nearby and the Parque Central will need to seriously improve or reduce rates once they open
“Great location, nice hotel ”
We enjoyed our stay here. This hotel is well located on the edge of Old Havana right by their central park. Lots of taxis, horses and carts, bici-taxis outside. Nice lobby, nice room. they honoured our room requests so we had a nice high floor with a balcony and a view over the park. Some rooms face the interior of the hotel in an atrium, these would not be as good. The breakfast is amazing, loads of choice, they will make eggs/omelette or a smoothie for you. Word of warning, if they try to put you in the second breakfast room say no thanks and wait for the main room, the second room is not as good by a long way. Rooftop pool is wonderful. Great views, nice clean pool. Would most definitely stay here again.
“Excellent location ”
stayed here for three nights. The lobby area is stunning. Room not so impressive bug large and clean. Excellent location for visiting central Havana. Wasn't impressed with the mojito at the bar. Tasted watery. Ate in the hotel restaurant on the first night. Pasta was ok, nothing special, but was expensive. Loved rooftop pool bar for evening cocktails. Great views, nice staff and gorgeous cocktails. Would return.
“Ejoyed our stay ”
We spent 4 days here before going to Varadero for 10 days. Arriving shortly after noon, we were told our room wasn't ready and we didn't get our keys until close to 4pm. In the mean time we enjoyed lunch near the pool and drinks in the lobby bar. It was worth the wait as we got a room in the colonial building on the top (7th) floor facing the city/water view which had a lot of character including high arched windows and tilework in the bathroom. We didn't see rooms in the new building but were quite happy with the room we got. As other reviewers have mentioned, the lobby bar can get really smoky in the evenings when way too many people are lighting up. But we are in Cuba I figure so cigars are part of the identity, right?... there are places around the hotel where the air is cleaner. No smoking in the restaurants! The buffet restaurant was great for breakfast (included in our package) and we returned there one night for dinner (a la carte). We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of our meals and the reasonable prices considering this is probably the best hotel in Havana. WIFI is available in the lobby for 9cuc/hour - WIFI was not working the first 2 days we were there but their business center PCs worked ok.
“Clean and modern, but soulless and smoky”
We stayed here one night having stayed at the nationale for the first part of our Havana stay. This hotel is a real contrast. Its clean, modern and located right in the heart of central Havana. The pool area in the traditional side of the hotel is lovely and has amazing views especially at sunset. However despite the positives it also has some negatives, it lacks any personality and feels soulless. I don't think I have ever felt so undervalued as a customer at any hotel. The concierge were generally really unhelpful, we wanted to know our transfer pick up time and were first told the rep might be around in an hour, so we came back in an hour and waited 30mins, then asked them again if they could find out about the pick up time, the concierge said to try looking in a room at the back of the lobby, that's where the reps wait, so why not tell us that in the 1st place!! Anyway still no rep for our company therefore went back and finally they made the 30 sec phone call to the company and confirmed the time. So all it took was a 30 sec phone call, but we spent over 1 hour trying to find out this info. The lobby area is really, really smoky. OK, I know there are not the same laws about smoking in Cuba and I accept that, but given that most guests were European, American or Canadian, I would expect a small smoking area, rather than a small non smoking area, which was just a small cluster of tables which were just a smoky as the rest! This meant we did not want to spend any time in the lobby bar. This wasn't much of an issue as the hotel is right near the old town and perfect for exploring this area. Overall a high quality building with good rooms and a great pool. Its nice and clean in a good location. However the service was generally poor and it lacked any sort of character in a city full of character.
“I would recommend this Hotel ”
Good alll rounder. Breakfast very good plenty to choose from although take your own teabags if you like anything but a very weak tea. Clean, large rooms and an ironing board and iron - great! Bath and shower - very good
“Pool and view exceptional ”
We had a 1 night stay which was ok but not as good as expected. Good points :- The pool on the 9th floor with its views across the city and to the Malecon is exceptional and probably the main reason for staying at the hotel. The location on the edge of the old town is great for investigating ( on foot or by cab) the main sights and true Cuban culture. Not so good:- The room was ok but street noise ( even on the 5 th floor )disturbed our sleep. Service was generally slow and poor to the point of verging on rudeness Breakfast while a comprehensive selection was still poor for a 5 star hotel. Summary, this is an expensive hotel and should only be considered if you intend to use the pool and that area of the city.
“Excellent Location ”
Placed at an excellent location to reach all places easily. Huge hotel with excellent facilities. Superb restaurants, cafe, cocktail bar and entertainment place to enjoy. This hotel is in middle of the city with all the travel facilities just outside of the premises. God place to stay to see Havana for few nights. Clubs, bars are round the corner. Rooms are large and comfy. Roof top Swimming pool and cafe with excellent views of the city. Great service but slow in the restaurant. Large reception area always busy and money changing facilities available.
“In the middle of old Havana ”
After a 9 hour flight from the uk we arrived late in the evening to a busy reception and bar area. We were checked in quite quick and had a room on the 7th floor with a distance sea view out the window. Was ready for bed after long day getting there. Room large and clean with comfy bed and quiet, couldn't here any noise once in own room. Breakfast fine each morning, got busy about 8. There is a roof top bar which for some reason very few people went up to so it was nice to get away from the hustle of the reception area up there for a quite drink and they do snacks as well. Wifi is virtually non existent so you will have to live without it while there. There was always security guards at the entrance but it's a very safe place to be. You have to bring your travel money in to cuba and exchange it locally and cannt exchange it back so you need to spend it! hotel had little exchange bank which was fine for getting local currency. Entrance/bar area always busy with people coming and going but this hotel is in the best place to be, old Havana because as soon as you step out the front of the hotel you can go on a horse and carriage ride, open top car ride, funny little yellow scooter rides and you can walk to the tourist area in moments. There is a hop on hop of open top bus just across the road and very cheap. You must do an open top tour in an old 50's car which takes about 4 hours with a guide, it was brilliant. We also went to the Tropicana Cabaret one evening, it's been going since 1939, bit expensive but big lavish show. Havana is a must see place, 3 nights just right before you want to move on, very busy and frantic but we enjoyed it then headed 3 hours down the coast by coach to the Paradisus hotel on the Varadero Coast for 7 days relaxation on the beach. Will rate that separate.
“Beautiful Hotel ”
Arrived late in Havana but we were met by a friendly reception team and quick swift booking in and off to our room. Hotel was beautiful and a very central location. Breakfast buffet was great and lots to choose from, including champagne :) Roof top pools were terrific and the views from here were 2nd to none. Our room was huge and the views outside onto the old American cars was fantatic. All the professional friendly helpful staff made the stay here well worth it, thank you all. Had a wander around town and some of the old colonial buildings were beautiful but not cared for and some in need of renovation. You would think you were in a 3rd world country when wandering through the back streets, the appalling living conditions and poverty is very noticable. The people themselves were all very friendly but too many beggers, especially women with young children. Took the hop on hop off tour bus and did the whole city for 5 CUC's, well worth it. Dont be fooled when some locals try and befriend you telling you about local festivals, be it music, food or cigars, they dont exist and they are only trying to get you to a local house to buy cigars, which are a lot more expensive than the hotels. Alcohol is very cheap in the local restaurants/shops. thoroughly enjoyable time in Havana, well worth the visit :)
“Great Cuban Hotel ”
I would rate the hotel's service as great with classic Cuban architecture. The hotel rooms within are in need of update and sometimes the power goes off for a bit, the water pressure sometimes drops when you are showering. However, it is centrally located, clean, and has a 24 bar/kitchen on the first floor. The pool and bar area on the roof is beautiful and gives you a surprising view of the roofs around Habana / Havana. The included breakfast is quite extensive and would have something for everyone - we ate there for 4 days and did not tire of it. I would stay there again.
“Great Stay at the Parque Central ”
We had a great stay at the Parque Central, it's very centrally located and easy to get in and out of. The restaurants were great and the breakfast was very good. The only problem was that a website said that the outlets could take US plugs so I didn't bring any of my adapters and all the outlets took the 2 round prong European plugs. They did give you one adapter at the front desk but I had to use the one adapter to charge all of my electronics. The only other thing bad about my stay was there is no free internet I had to purchase an hour of internet for 8 CUCs and the only place I got signal strong enough was right by the business center.
“Great introduction to Havana ”
We spent 3 nights in this hotel. Accommodations were excellent, well exceeded my expectations. The place is very clean, attentive service. Good idea to leave a tip daily for the maids, and leave a little note for them, they appreciate it . Breakfast and dinner buffet enormous. Hotel lobby always buzzing with activity, my only complaint was the amount of cigar smoking in lobby in afternoon, a little overwhelming. But it's CUBA! The hotel was also undergoing some renovations in one part of the hotel, was noisy, but we weren't in our room very much. .Hotel is centrally located , excellent restaurants and famous bars nearby ( Floridita, a Hemingway fave) . All walkable. Don't miss the Old car taxis parked in front of hotel, definitely worth a ride.
“Nice lobby for drinks ”
We didn't stay at Iberostar Parque Central but visited on a couple of occasions for drinks in the lobby which was a very pleasant experience. It is one of the few hotels offering wi-fi although it is pricey. The roof top swimming pool looked small but nice and it's worth going up to take photos of Parque Central Square with it's collection of classic cars functioning as taxis. We used the travel agent to book an excursion and found the staff much more helpful than those in Hotel Telegrafo where we were staying. We also had a snack in the basement cafe - the food was ok but at a premium price. There was a mistake with our bill but this was corrected straight away and we were given complimentary coffees.
“Excellent location and very good hotel ”
The hotel is a great location if you want to be in decent walking distance of Old Havana. Go one direction and you're at the Malecon, another direction at you're in the Plaza de Armas (ok, a much longer walk but still doable for a good walker). Don't fancy walking, there are plenty of old taxis, bicycle taxis, and horse drawn carts available to take you where you want to go. The taxi drivers can be aggressive, but a firm no and they quickly back off. As others have mentioned, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The bed is hard, but I like that so I may not be the best judge of it's comfort. My room over looked the plaza in front of the hotel, so I was quite glad I had a pair of earplugs. Havana seems to always on the go; late night and early morning. There was no free coffee in the room, even though there is a coffee pot. If you need coffee to start your day, prepare to call room service or wait for breakfast buffet. The air conditioner in my room was a bit of a let down. It never was cool in the afternoon, that was ok for me though since I usually just came in for a little while before I was back out again. It did get cool at night while sleeping. The breakfast buffet is vast and pretty good (for a breakfast buffet). The bar in the lobby is a fun place to sit back with a cocktail, beer or wine. For those of us from countries where bars are now non-smoking, it's a bit of a shock to be sitting next to a smoker, but I could usually find some clean air.
“Great start and end to holiday.”
Had 3 nights here on arrival and 1 before departure on our recent trip to Cuba. Stayed in new part. Huge rooms, well equipped, comfy beds, lots of hot water in spacious bathroom. Breakfast good in both parts of hotel. Ate in Italian (?) restaurant first evening - excellent risotto- and bar second evening - less good. Cadeca good, and secure for nervous types, when changing money. Reception area in old part great for people watching and drinks/lunch. Didn't use pool as very hot and no shade. Good central position.
“good stay ”
Just got back form cuba, we stayed in the parque central for 3 nights, not disappointed at all, had heard food could be bland which it definately wasn't, food could have been abit warmer though. Plenty to choose from at breakfast. We were in the new part of hotel & found rooms to be clean & comfortable. Both pools were really good & you got brilliant views across the city. Found prices in the hotel to be fair & most of the staff friendly. The only down side we have is the cigar smoke in the main bar area at night it was rather thick at times, but thats what they do, you just have to look for a smoke free area. Cubans do start their day rather early so dont expect a quiet lye in. There are quite a few outside the hotel touting taxi business but they do take no for an answer so dont be put of. All in all really enjoyed it.
“Five Star not quite, but a good effort. Just play by the rules and keep away from the free cocktails! ”
Pleasantly surprised. The local rating for the IBEROSTAR Parque Central is Five Stars. And yes, this is not a European or Asian Five Star, but in fairness it is close and considering this is a hotel in what is essentially a third World state, it is not far away in terms of facilities or service. We stayed for three nights at the start of a Bales/Virgin week-long tour of this intriguing Caribbean island. We were allocated bedrooms in the five year old Modern Tower ?extension? effectively an annexe reached from the main hotel reception by underground tunnel. The rooms were clean and spacious, no complimentary tea and coffee which was a shame. Why charge Iberostar for two poor quality coffee sachets? And another quick moan. Why no complimentary Wifi? I get that it is Cuba, but a free service rather than 8 CUPs for an hour would have been appreciated. Two pools, one on each of the two accommodation blocks. Great views of the city and good, clean pool areas, where you can chill, dip or have a cheeky cocktail. And talking of cheeky cocktails, one word of warning from somebody who has experienced the ?free cocktails? on offer at the Mirabana Snack-bar, @ the roof top in the modern tower. BEWARE! Beware, if you are given vouchers that are for free cocktails. My wife and friends rocked up for a pre-dinner drink, selected our choice and then was told that the vouchers were only were valid against three ?local? rub based cocktails. OK, we thought, whilst being slightly narked, only to then, having sampled the ?Habana Special? to be very disappointed. Didn?t realise it was a spot the rum competition! My belief in business life having worked on countless marketing promos is that if you are giving something away for free, always ensure that the offering is the best that your organisation can give, otherwise it quite literally dilutes the brand ? in our case the ice heavy cocktail ? and then leaves a bad taste in the mouth... Had the offer been genuine ie any cocktail from the menu, then we would have been happy bunnies and gone on to have two or three more as we were up for it. Again, if the F&B Manager wants to increase this hotels margin, then here is a simple way. We therefore left? Breakfast was a good experience, with reasonable choice, but finding plates proved to be a bit of ?a faff? as they are all located halfway down the restaurant on the right. Tip for F&B Manager, please move them to the various food stations to avoid guest frustration and the inevitable traffic chaos at peak serving times. As we were booked on a half board basis we ate in the Mediterraneo Restaurant for a couple of nights. This acts as the main breakfast serving restaurant and from what we could see offered a good experience. For dinner though the room was always quiet and lacked any sort of real intimacy. The menu was ok, just a little restrictive, that said the starters were fine and the sirloin steak well-presented and tasty. My view is that if you are staying for more than one night, it is better to book on a bed and breakfast basis and then have the freedom to enjoy the local restaurants instead. Unless that is, you read the fine print of the joining letter which we didn?t and thereby gives you access to both the Mirabana Restaurant and the Nuevo Mundo Snack Bar ? top floor Colonial Tower. Long story short was that you need to see the hotel reception/concierge to trigger access to the other two dining areas if you are on a package inclusion. If you don?t then you will need to have a little discussion with the waiting staff to fight your corner. In fairness this was not the hotels fault, it was ours, and the lovely waiting staff did try and do their best to rectify the situation as my friend went back to his room to trace the original letter of authorisation. No mean feat this ? down one lift, under the tunnel, up another lift and then repeat. My mate needed the exercise, but it was a pain for all concerned. Eventually the waiters took pity on us and relented, breaking the rule and giving us a positive warm experience about the brand. Ten minutes later my good friend returned clutching the letter by which time we were already looking at the menu (having had the green light top proceed) which was more ?snacky based? safe in the knowledge we could enjoy everything with the exception (quite rightly) of the lobster.. So all in all, the many TA reports would appear to be broadly correct in their analysis. Is it the Number One Hotel in Habana? Well I am not sure having not stayed anywhere else. But, if you are wanting a good hotel (mainly) right in the centre of town, you won?t go far wrong by checking in here. Just play by the rules and keep away from the free cocktails.
“Fabulous Stay ”
My friend and I stayed at the Parque Central for 4 nights in October 2014. We stayed in the old wing of this hotel although either wing has nice rooms. We were shown the newer rooms after both my friend and I had problems with the air conditioning in our respective rooms. In the end, we decided to stay in the rooms we had already settled into. The air conditioning was working but not really all that well...after about two days of semi-warm rooms, the AC was fixed and then we were both complaining about the cold in our rooms. Sometimes there is just no pleasing people. Security was visible in the lobbies, which is good I guess, and the maid service was excellent. The rooms were clean, had balconies and free safes. The lobby in the older part of the hotel is wonderful to just hang around in and service and food was great anywhere in the hotel. Money can be changed in the lobby until 10 p.m. The best part of this hotel is the rooftop pool in the newer side of the hotel. Beautiful smallish pool, beautiful views and a restaurant too. Second best part of the hotel is the fact that it is located in Old Havana and within walking distance of many of the best attractions in the city. We were out some nights until 2 a.m. and there was never any problem with being harassed. Having said that, there are definitely some aggressive touts lying in wait for tourists right outside the hotel, but after a few days you become inured to their pleas and they also realize by your demeanour that they are wasting their time with you. The wi-fi at the hotel was very expensive: $8 CUC (equivalent to US dollar) per hour! At that rate it is best to forgo your gadgets except for the most necessary use. The lack of cheap or free wi-fi is a blessing in a sense, since it forces you to be a little more present than you otherwise might if you had abundant internet access. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and love, love, love Havana!
“Nice hotel, lovely people”
Stayed here for 3 days as part of a twin centre holiday. Door Staff were very helpful as were all other staff. Read reviews about things going missing from rooms but we were cautious and never experienced anything. The hotel was lovely, we stayed in the old part, we stayed on the 7th floor which gave you a fantastic view of the park in front. The lobby has a great 'colonial' view about it. Both buildings (linked by an underground walkway) have pools, however sunbeds are scarce at peak times - late afternoon. Food was lovely. People in Havana were very polite and we felt safe, however there is a scam where locals try and befriend you, take you to a bar and then you buy a round of drinks which are charged at extortionate prices. Another couple experienced this so be careful if some locals seem over friendly, however this does not reflect the spirit of nearly every Cuban we met, who seemed polite and happy. By far the best choice we made on holiday was booking a tour with Ricardo. an open top classic car complete with driver and Ricardo as guide for a whole day! This meant we got to see so much and he was there to explain the history of every part of this culture rich City. He was a lovely, polite and courteous young university student, fluent in English and many other languages. This really made our trip to Havana and I cannot emphasise strongly enough what a difference this made. It was extremely good value for the whole day, giving us an insight into the fantastic buildings, plazas and statues. His contact details can be found on the forum ( how we found them). We loved Havana and would return in an instant, so much history, culture. The grandeur of the buildings is breathtaking, and the fact the country seems to be in a time warp is part of it's charm as is the spirit of the people. Recommend the hotel and city to anyone.
“Superb Hotel ”
Four of us stayed here for 4 nights early November for the first part of our twin centre holiday. We arrived around 5.00pm on Thursday 6th November and were shown our rooms which were in the old colonial part of the hotel. We had 2 inter-connecting rooms which were very spacious and spotlessly clean. The view from our balcony overlooked the hustle & bustle of busy central Havana and we loved it. The hotel is ideally situated for any exploring and there is plenty to see and do. The Cuban people are very friendly and are always happy to assist you with directions or friendly words of advice. we had one local older man stop us outside the hotel and advised one of our party not to wear her gold chain out at night just in case it attracted the wrong attention. We never had any problems with walking around Havana day or night and were never hassled. Locals will try for your business for all sorts of taxi rides (tuk-tuks, bicycles, old American cars) etc etc but if you politely say no gracias they do not persue you. Some parts of New Havana are not safe to walk at night, the hotel staff or tour guides can enlighten you. The Iberostar Parque really does live up to its 5 star rating, everthing about it is exquisite and the staff are extremely polite and attentive. The hotel has two roof top pool bars, one in the old part and the other in the new. We went to both and the views are fabulous. We ate at the hotel twice, once in the main bar and the other in the Mediterranean Restaurant. In the bar we had their much recommended Burger but to be honest we were not impressed i'm affraid. We asked for well done and it was still very red throughout. In the Mediterranean Restaurant we had pizza which was very good, Unfortunately we had a slight incident where a waiter dropped a full tray of drinks over one of our party, she had to go and do a full change of clothes, for this we were offered a glass of Lambrusco for the trouble. An offer of the clothes to be cleaned would of been more appropriate in the circumstance but we didn't make any fuss, accidents happen. The Daiquiri's are very good, they do several including the very yummy strawberry which went down well with everyone, even one of us who dosen't normally like Rum! If we ever travel to Havana again we will definately return to the Iberostar Parque as it is a superb Hotel in an ideal location.
“Havana chic ”
We have just returned from a fantastic stay in Cuba, this was our Havana hotel, and what a great choice it was. The hotel has had major restoration, it feels brand new, but with an older facade. The lobby area is wonderful on arrival, large open plan, with high ceilings, and large colonial style stairs going up to the first level. The bars in the lobby are great, staff are first class, very attentive, and nothing takes to long to arrive from the bar and kitchens. The fixtures and furnishings are of a high standard, decorations are in good condition. Both public areas and bedrooms are of a high standard, ours had lovely views of the old town, some overlook Central Park, great aircon, which obviously is a must, baths and showers very good. This hotel is in two halves, old and new, we were in the new section, which also has its own bars and restaurant, concierge and reception. But we preferred the bars etc in the old half, much more character. But again all staff throughout the hotel are very smart and attentive, all speak good English and a more than helpful to give advice. The concierge at the old side will organise anything for you, walking tours of the city, also we had a 1953 old American convertible tour of the city, fantastic...!!!! The driver was funny and knew all the places to take us, seemed to know everyone in the city. The cigar factory is a must, and the rum factory. Location is wonderful, 5 mins walk to the old town, and Hemmingways bar etc. What a great stay we had, and would recommend it to anyone, we looked into a few of the other hotels, but certainly we thought the iberostar was the best.
“Excellent Hotel in Havana ”
Location, room, facilities = excellent! Service and ALL the staff = outstanding! Value for money = excellent. If I return to Havana I will definitely stay at this Hotel again. I can recommend it to anybody!
“Lovely hotel ”
Comes thoroughly recommended. The rooms were huge and spotless, good air-conditioning, beautiful balconies with wonderful views, and the piece de resistance is the rooftop pool/bar area in both hotels. The mojitos are the best we had in 3 weeks of travelling in Cuba. The location of the hotel is incredible, and yet it is quiet and peaceful - nearly everything is accessible within walking distance. The staff are extremely helpful and always happy to help you organise trips/taxis etc.
“Home from home ”
After a stay of 2½ weeks (for the second time) we were entirely happy with the hotel. The rooms are large and clean, the bathrooms excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast waiters in the "new" block in particular were superb. The view from our room on the 7th floor was great, and it was quiet and very comfortable. From the hotel the old town, the Malecon, and many museums and galleries are within walking distance.
“Very nice and confortable stay ”
Rooms are very clean and confortable, Hotel has 2 parts, lobby on the old side is very traditional and offers a wide space, staff friendly, nice breakfast. Our best accommodation in Cuba, also close to old town,
“An oasis in the centre of Havana”
My second trip to Havana made more enjoyable by staying at this hotel. Large comfortable rooms - not perfect but this is Cuba!! Large busy reception area and I found the staff very friendly. Bar food not great and evening entertainment - stick to the local stuff I would say not dire lounge music. But there is so much to go and explore. Breakfast was really impressive and attentive staff. Concierge 10 out of 10 - sorted out all sorts of things. The rooftop pool is a luxury - clean and you can just relax and view Havana. I would definitely stay here again.
“Loved this hotel! ”
Staff was warm, friendly and helpful. The included breakfast buffet was outstanding, probably rival what you find on a cruise ship. Location was right in the heart of everything you want to see in Havana. Five stars for all categories, one notch down for Sleep Quality as I found the mattress much to hard for my liking. Hope to go back to Havana and if I do this will be my hotel of choice.
“Cuba hol ”
Couldn't fault this hotel, all very helpful especially the concierge, lovely roof top swimming pool with fantastic views of Havana. The only down side is "tips" every where you go they all want tips, even want to walk you to a pub but still an amazing place to go :)
“Highly recommended - Great location ”
My partner and I stayed here in the last couple of days in October, and we are glad we chose this hotel. The location is excellent, in easy walking distance of all of the Havana sights and attractions. The hotel is split into two parts, the old and new. Whilst the older part is perhaps a little dated in the rooms, the character of the place more than makes up for that. We are more than happy we were placed in the old section as that would have been our preference anyway. The lobby and lobby bar is excellent and I would recommend this hotel to anybody staying in Havana
“Great short stay”
Stayed here after 10 nights in Varadero! Preferred Varadero to Havana, as a location, etc but can't fault this hotel at all. Very clean, good food, nice rooms, lovely rooftop pool. Found a local bar with a local band playing - great night! But be careful with the rum, lol Would exercise caution when walking through the city however.
“Highly reccomended hotel - a great stay ”
We stayed at the Parque Central hotel for 6 nights in October on our first visit to Cuba and this hotel is out of this world. It's location is superb, very close to local shops, bars and resturants which are all within walking distance. The hotel itself is very palacious with a grand entrance. The rooms are very large in size, with all the facilities you would need and the views on the balcony are amazing. The staff are very friendly and always willing to go that extra mile for you. The one thing i would say is that wi-fi can only be used in the lobby area and is pretty expensive, so be warned. However, a fantastic hotel and i look forward to staying here again!
“Cuban adventure ”
Stayed at this hotel for my husband's 50th birthday treat. Fantastic location between old and new Havana. Within walking distance of the Capitol building and a short walk to the Malecon and harbour down the Paseo de Marti. Rooms were generous in size and compared very favourably with any similarly starred hotel in Europe. Roof top pool area a very welcome retreat from the heat, dust, noise and humidity of Havana with stunning views of the old town and modern Havana especially in the evening. Staff were very helpful, polite and professional although the arrival of our group of 25+ did put the reception under pressure. We stayed in the older part of the hotel which faced out onto the Parque Central. The bureau de change had excellent opening times so don't worry about arriving without any CUCs. We got a better exchange rate with sterling than euros. The only down side was being hounded to take taxis etc. once we stepped foot out the front doors. There is a side exit via the modern hotel beside their cigar shop which we used to enter and leave without being hassled. If you like walking to take in the sights you will be coaxed and cajoled to take taxis and tours.
“Best Central Location ”
Very central hotel with excellent service in every area .Good choice at breakfast . Could do better with choice of food especially for Vegetarians in restaurants .Entertainment very good Would highly recommend anybody to stay for 3 to 4 days when visiting Havana Internet unpredictable as everywhere in Cuba . Found very safe to walk around in Havana .
“Centrally located, excellent service, rooftop bar ”
Recently spent seven nights at this European style hotel. Our room was well appointed and clean. I am a light sleeper and would suggest if you are, to ask for a room away from the street. Internet/WiFi are sketchy; I didn't even purchase a card since I had heard from friends they had little success. There is a small gym, a rooftop pool and large restaurant. Most important is location....Havana is a fun city to just walk....and this hotel is well located as a jump off point to explore the city.
“A Bit of European Luxury in Havana”
I stayed a total of five nights in two different rooms in the older building, as part of a tour group. The hotel is beautiful, the rooms extremely clean and comfortable, and the staff accommodating and professional. Service at the front desk, in the bars, and in the restaurant were excellent. The location was convenient for a variety of attractions and activities in the city. The breakfast buffet deserves special mention. A wonderful assortment, catering to the breakfast preferences of most any European or American visitor. We also had one group dinner on the rooftop of the Tower building...very good food and excellent service.
“Very central hotel with great facilities ”
We looked around at a lot of hotels in Havana before we booked this one and we were not disappointed. The hotel is very central for most activities and for others a short walk or taxi ride away. The facilities are fantastic with two roof top pools and several places to eat/drink. The best views in Havana can be found from here as the hotel is one of the highest buildings. The rooms are quiet, large and modern in facilities but stylish. The staff are all very friendly and couldn't do enough to assist. The only small niggle is the wifi/internet, it is very unreliable and seems unable to cope with all who want to use it. This is likely to be down to Cuba as a country, rather than just the hotel as everyone is forced to use the only provider in the country and we found similar problems as we travelled through the country.
“Truly the best hotel in Havana ”
We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights during out trip to Cuba & need to admit the highest level of service & professionalism of the staff. The rooms are convenient & cosy with all possible amenities. It is really quiet in the room (with the closed french window) & we could enjoy an excellent night sleep. But if you open the window you will be amazed by a real museum of old retro cars just in front of you. My husband could stay for hours just looking out of the window! The facilities are great (pools of the rooftop with hot tub reveal unforgetable view of the town!). The location is ideal for exploring the old town with easy access to retro/coco/bicicle/horse taxi. We want to say a big thank you to all the staff for their hospitality, warmness & smiles! The only thing is that we have forgotten in the room one very dear to our family thing - a small toy rabbit. Probably it was hidden in the pillows on the bed. We would highly appreciate if the hotel team could help us to check if it is still there & probably we would find a way to take it back! It would be the best present for us! Thank you in advance!
“Ideal location ”
Spent 4 nights in Havana and wanted to be able to go to main sights and restaurants without needing to haggle with taxis. It is in a perfect location as the old town (Habana Vieja) is on your doorstep and most sights and many good restaurants and bars are within a 15 minutes walk. Outside the hotel at Parque Central, there are plenty of classic car taxis, bicycle taxis, horse -drawn carriages, and tuc-tucs for tours. The hop on hop off bus also starts from there. On the way from the airport, I noticed that several other four and five star hotels were located a bit further away from Habana Vieja and a taxi ride was required to visit the main sights. Our room on third floor old building over looking the road, was spacious and very comfortable and air conditioner worked well despite other comments. We were concerned that it may be noisy but had no problems. The pools at the top of the hotel in both the old and new buildings provide a good view of Havana. I thought the view from the old building was the better. There is a money exchange at the hotel, which gave a good rate of exchange, better than at the airport, and internet is available at CUC 8 an hour. The lobby bar is a good pace for having a beer and listening to live music in the evening, though there are plenty of options nearby. Breakfast buffet is good with a wide selection of hot and cold foods. The other restaurants in the hotel were expensive but there are plenty of other eating places nearby. Will definitely go to this hotel if returning to Havana.
“Wonderful hotel and location ”
WOW - love this hotel. Great location and my room was very spacious with large bathroom and separate shower enclosure (very nice). My A/C worked fine and plenty of hot water - of course I was gone most of the day sightseeing. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and SO MANY items from which to choose. Bar open 24/7 and very nice big lobby. Felt the front desk staff was on top of things and very pleasant. Havana was a real surprise finding most of the people smiling. Sure I know a new hotel is building built nearby but I think the Parque Central is A plus.
“Excellent position etc. ”
Just returned from Cuba after a gorgeous week in Havana and another in Varadero. This centrally placed hotel in Havana was excellent. We requested a high room with a view and we were more than happy with our 4th floor room with a balcony overlooking the square. Plenty to keep us entertained both morning and evening. The food throughout was excellent and the service from the waitresses etc was amazing. In the main lounge area we were looked after usually by Yunasys and at the rooftop bar by Guillermo. Both excellent, polite and exceptionally attentive. Thank you both. I would have no qualms about recommending this beautiful hotel, especially the period quarters rather than the new attached block. Only downside we could comment on was the normal lack of Wifi in most of the hotel. Sit at the bar if you want a good reception. Thanks also to Ivan, the guest relations manager. Most helpful gentleman. Couldn't do enough for us. Visited the National Hotel. Very dated and stuffy!! So pleased we chose the Parque Central.......no comparison whatsoever. Thanks again to all the staff for a brilliant week.
The Parque Central Hotel, located in the heart of Old Havana, gives a touch of modernity in close contact with colonial architecture, combining the elegance of the Spanish style with modern services. The establishment is surrounded by many famous buildings, including The Capitol and the García Lorca Theater, which is traditionally mentioned in the world of culture due to the excellent ballet performances staged there.
