How much does quarantine cost for tourists in hotels in Cuba?

Cuba implemented a new sanitary measure against the spread of Covid-19 that involves travel restrictions: five nights of mandatory isolation that must be fulfilled in a hotel room, at the guest's expense. It applies to Cubans residing abroad and "foreigners who are not part of a tourist group." How much does quarantine cost in Cuba?

From US $ 231 to US $ 846 per person. That is the value of quarantine packages in Havana hotels for foreign tourists who are not part of a travel group and Cubans residing abroad. Passengers must arrive with a negative PCR test carried out up to three days before flying, and another test must be carried out at the Havana Airport, the result of which will be about three days later, while the people are housed in quarantine.

The packages include five nights of accommodation -in single or double rooms-, transfer from the airport in air-conditioned buses and three daily meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Guests must comply with isolation in the room, and cannot circulate through the hotel facilities where they are staying.

The price list in the hotels authorized by the Cuban government was published on the Havanatur website. Reservations are made on the same website.

The cheapest package is the Hotel Tulipán, at US $ 231 per passenger in a double room. And the most expensive is the Hotel Parque Central in a single room for US $ 846.

There are options for US $ 283 (Hotel Vedado in a double room), for US $ 599 in a double room at the Hotel Meliá Habana (or US $ 771 for a single one), or US $ 503 at the Hotel Capri.

There are also hotels enabled in other locations: Camagüey (from US $ 219 to US $ 530), Holguín (from US $ 219 to US $ 648 per person), Matanzas (from US $ 300 to US $ 415), Villa Clara (US $ $ 231 to US $ 392), Santiago de Cuba (from US $ 231 to US $ 802), Ciego de Avila (US $ 283 to US $ 340)

At the end of January the government of Cuba announced that as of February 6, travelers will be transferred to isolation centers - hotels in the case of tourists and non-resident Cubans - who will have to bear the cost of their stay. See: Cuba will quarantine all international travelers

The system
People must remain isolated and without receiving visits as long as they do not have the negative result of two PCRs: one carried out at the Havana Airport and the second, five days after entering the country.

From now on, Cuban residents will wait for this result in an isolation center in their province of residence at no cost, while foreigners will do so in hotels and pay for their stay and transportation.

Another measure taken in January in light of the increase in coronavirus infections - which the authorities have attributed to the breach of the quarantine for travelers - was the reduction in the frequency of flights from the United States, Mexico, Panama, Bahamas and the Dominican Republic, to the Jamaica and Colombia joined.

In turn, the connections with Nicaragua, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Suriname and Haiti remain suspended.
