Informative Note of the Institute of Civil Aeronautics of Cuba

On Monday, August 30, 2021, representatives of CACSA and the IACC held conversations with representatives of the charter company INVICTA to, among other aspects, assess the possible cargo operations with the use of the Skyway airline to airports outside the city of Havana. . In the same sense, it exchanges with officials of the IBC airline for the implementation of cargo flights that it operates with the CUBAMAX charter company, authorized to fly to Havana, as well as operations to other airports in the country.

These conversations take place in response to requests made by these charter companies and the respective airlines because the United States government authorized emergency exceptions in favor of Skyway and IBC airlines in July to allow them to operate flights of Weekly cargo to Cuba, including an additional weekly flight to any other airport in the national territory for Skyway and up to five weekly flights to any airport in Cuba for IBC.

The exceptions are necessary because, as will be recalled, on August 13, 2020, the United States government suspended authorizations for all charter flights between the United States and all airports in Cuba, except charter flights for the public, exclusively to and from Havana, which was part of the package of unilateral coercive measures and the reinforcement of the economic blockade applied in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and still in force.

Since June 18, 2021 and by virtue of a previous authorization, the INVICTA charter company already operated two weekly Miami-Havana flights with Skyway airline. In the case of IBC, on August 25, 2021, it was granted permission to carry out two weekly flights with the CUBAMAX Miami-Havana charter. At the moment this company is in the process of contracting with the service providers to start the flights.
