Telegrafo Axel Hotel La Habana opens its doors in the capital of Cuba

2 Mar With an unbeatable location in the Cuban capital, a few steps from the National Capitol and other places of interest, the Telégrafo Axel Hotel La Habana opened its doors as the first LGBTIQ+ friendly city accommodation in the Greater Antilles.

Located in a historic building, the accommodation is managed by the Spanish company Axel Hotels. It has 63 rooms, a restaurant, a Wellness Area (Fitness & Spa), a lounge bar, a lounge, a solarium and a terrace with a swimming pool on the top level, among the most substantial improvements added after a process of renovating its spaces.

On the official website of Axel Hotels, an opening offer is available that includes a 20% discount, using the code OPEN20 for reservations through said site. Likewise, there are other options such as a 10% discount for stays of 3 nights or more and a 15% discount for guests who book 30 days in advance.

"Axel Hotels seeks to position itself as the world's leading business group aimed at the LGBTIQ public and as of today it is in Havana," the Gaviota Tourism Group, owner of the facility, reported on its Facebook page. In an entry on its official blog published last year, Gaviota quotes Silvia Pérez Viñolas, Director of Communication and Marketing at Axel Hotels, who defined the concept of this hotel company as follows:

“Our philosophy is heterofriendly, that is, our hotels are spaces conceived by and for the LGBTIQ+ community, but open to everyone, where anyone is welcome. They are spaces where freedom and respect are the most important values, and in which inclusion and diversity are promoted above all else. To do this, we transfer our philosophy to all our services and to our staff, with the aim that our clients feel free and respected, always receiving an unbeatable quality of service and unique experiences. The approach and empathy that exists in our hotels towards the LGBTI+ community by all the staff and through the entire experience itself is perhaps what differentiates us the most from other hotels.”

In a building of high heritage value -dating from the year 1860- the Telégrafo Axel Hotel La Habana offers the advantages of its proximity to places such as the Gran Teatro "Alicia Alonso", the Paseo del Prado, the Malecón, the Morro Fortresses, La Cabin and La Punta; as well as the National Museum of Fine Arts and the legendary Floridita bar.
