Description: El Yunque - The Avil - Nature Trail Excursion
A tour of 8 km, starting on El Yunque Camping Resort. A march on foot with a medium degree of difficulty to meseta of El Yunque, symbol of Baracoa. Duaba River runs at the base of the meseta and the fresh climate accompanies the visitor during the walk on the trail. You can enjoy a hillock landscape, where palm trees such as Royal Palm and Yuruguana prevail and jaguecillos, mahogany trees; and plants like irises and ferns outstand. From the fauna, we can see birds like the woodpeckers, tocororos, zunzunes and other animals like the hutias and reptiles. There are also butterflies of a singular beauty. At 573 metres high, a natural vantage point allows to see the landscape of mountains and rivers and, at the back, the Bay of Porto Santo, through which Christopher Columbus entered for the first time. A bath at Duaba River, with a country lunch and snack are included.
