      “Can't fault Costa Verde”
Returned a few days ago from a 2 week stay, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Had a very relaxing time. First week the buffet restaurant was still being refurbished, but this did not detract from our eating pleasure. As others have mentioned, the choices of meat and fish cooked to order was very good, as was fresh pasta station and pizza cooked with choice of toppings. Chips are always on offer (not that I usually eat them) and one night mashed potatoes were on offer (my friend said they were good), but veggies were varied and well cooked. Overall, we enjoyed all our meals. Definitely avoid going to buffet as soon as it opens, it's like feeding time at the zoo! Go to breakfast around 9 and dinner 8/8.30 and it will be less hectic (can't comment on lunch as never went). Wine is free with dinner, not too bad, and is better than wine served in lobby bar. The al a carte restaurants are not bad, the Japanese was the best (an enjoyable experience), the Italian not bad (main buffet pasta just as good), Cuban not bad (lobster tough) and Mediterranean quite good (though this is not a choice now main buffet refurbishment complete), so only went to each once and cancelled second week bookings. Didn't do the Grill, as beef in Cuba generally tough so not worth paying extra for. Rooms are comfortable, if not a little tired, and beds very big and comfortable. Kept clean with linens changed frequently (towels daily). Toiletries are provided (shower gel, body lotion and shampoo) and replenished. You should get a bottle of water each day (not enough for 2 people), but often it's not left - think we got 4 left in 2 weeks. You can get your bottles refilled at the snack bar/lobby bar, but water from this source is not nice tasting to drink, although OK to make tea/coffee. The grounds are kept well by the hard working gardeners, who always had a cheery hello in the mornings. Didn't try the fitness centre, but could see it was well used by many, and never sat round the pool (why would you when the beach is better). Evening entertainment seemed good, especially shows in the pool but, again, never really sat and watched specifically. Beach is nice and plenty of sunbeds, although they are very hard! Beach bar (serviced by the lovely Patricia) opens 10-5 each day, providing a good range of drinks. Do take your thermal cup, not only to keep your drinks cold but to save you keep going up to get another drink. Also, if you don't want to go back to hotel at lunchtimes, you can also get a hotdog or tuna roll from 12.30/2.30 - and very nice they are too. Go out for free on a catamaran, windsurfer, pedalo or canoe (just give the boys a tip), all included. We booked a fishing trip from Tina on the beach, just 24 pesos each. Great time for 4 hours (and cheaper than via Thomas Cook) with skipper Julio. As we booked this, we got 20% discount on our next trip, swimming with dolphins - which you must do if you get a chance. We opted for shallow pool experience rather than larger group in deep water, and it was a more intimate and enjoyable experience. Overall, we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend it. Not usually my type of holiday, don't usually like all-inclusive, but this was enjoyable for a 2 week stay - wouldn't do more as I like freedom to pop out and about more than this afforded (too far to get to nearest town easily). Also, WiFi is hit and miss and you have to pay 6 pesos an hour, so not worth it (didn't mind myself, but addicts to internet access might have a problem)! The one downside to the holiday was the rudeness of some of the guests to the staff - perhaps us Brits are just used to saying please and thank you, but I was disappointed as to how some people just didn't know or use those words at all - even when I actually stood next to them and pointed it out! Also, why do people fill their plates so high with food and then leave it when you can keep going up and having what and how much you want, especially when the Cuban people don't get the chance to have that choice themselves. Thomas Cook let us down a bit (2 hour delay outward) and changed the plane for return - older plane, different seat layout and entertainment system not so good, but overall flights/food were OK. One last thing, the staff (and Cuban people in general) are some of the most helpful, friendly and nicest people I have met on my travels, so thanks to them for making our holiday experience as good as it was. If I return to Cuba in the future I will give Playa Costa Verde another go.

      “Great Stay ”
Stayed in Dec 2013 and had an excellent time. The beach was wonderful and there were plenty of chairs. The food was decent and the a la cartes were all amazing. The snack bar had great pizza and the ice cream lady always had lots of excellent coconut ice cream. I did get sick once but I have a weak stomach when travelling so I don't normally old that against the hotels. I found the buffet to offer a good selection but it is open air and sometimes there were birds trying to steal food. While this didn't bother me, some others seemed upset by this. The room was large and while the decor could use an update, it more than met our needs.

“Playa Costa Verde - A Cuban Gem! ”
My wife and I took our first trip to Cuba between November 7th -14th/2014. And by a suggestion from a friend. We stayed at the Playa Costa Verde. And it was the best decision we ever made! This resort is simply WONDERFUL! Right from our check in to the moment we boarded the bus to leave. We were looked after by some of the nicest people we have ever met. We stayed in a regular ground level room with a King Bed etc. (#5514) And the room was great. It had a small fridge, great sized washroom and shower. And it had a wonderful view of the rest of the resort. Our maid Tamara made sure everything was the way it was supposed to be. She was wonderful! Many people always comment about the food while staying in Cuba. No worries at Playa Costa Verde. We ate like Kings! The Main Buffet, the aLa Cartes, and the 24 hour restaurant all served amazing food. If you can not find anything to eat at this resort. You best just to stay at home. The beach at Playa Costa Verde is amazing. Lots of white sand and clear blue waters. You could not ask for any better. A pair of water shows is a plus so you can walk out to about chest high of water and feed the many fish that live off of the resort with some bananas and bread. The Resort also includes Catamarans, Paddle Boats, and Snorkeling. Take advantage of all of these while you are there. If you are not comfortable with running your own Catamaran, get one of the resort staff to help you. They will take you on an amazing ocean ride and will talk a little history about Cuba too. The pool at the resort is where my wife and I spent a lot of our time. The pools are great. Jesus at the pool bar will look after every need you may have. And be sure to ask for his specialty drink. The "Super-Duper Magic Carpet". All in all there is nothing negative I can say about Playa Costa Verde. Go and relax and leave all of your worries at home. Because the staff will have you feeling wonderful with in the first few moments after you arrive!

      “Once again, outstanding ”
We visited Playa Costa Verde again after a two year absence and had a wonderful time. I was particularly flattered that so many of the wonderful staff remembered us. Everything was as good or better than before. Their new chef has excelled in the food preparation. As a fan of Cuban soup, I was delighted with the offering. The newly renovated buffet is great. We tended to make use of the side grill stations each morning and, of course, tipped the girl. As before, the staff are the real joy of the hotel. They are happy to assist no matter where you go. The a la carte restaurants continue to be very good. I think the Japanese Steak House, Kyoto, is the most popular. We enjoyed all of them. As I have stated before, please take a few gifts for the staff. Household items and children's items are always in need. Personal items are also much appreciated. I would also like to encourage everyone to tip as best they can. It's a small but appreciated gesture. As before, we visited a town within an hour or so of the hotel. It is well worth hiring a driver, especially when they have a '56 Ford like we did. We gained so much more insight into the country and the people. We already have our next town chosen for the next trip. We hope to return again soon.

      “Great Vac ”
we visited Costa verde on November 9th for a week. It's about a hour from the airport, but we had a really good guide that gave us a very good review of Cuba. This was our 2nd time at this hotel, and we will be back for sure. The food was great, I've been to Cuba about 30 times and the Costa verde had the best food. The customer service at the hotel is top notch, Ricardo is awesome at making sure everyone at the pool always had a drink. The guests at the resort were also great. We had 3 people in our group, one with special needs the staff treated everyone amazingly, always very friendly and open. This made the trip. The only negative thing I can say about the hotel is that the pool walls need to be scrubbed more often, other than that one thing it's was a great holiday and can't wait til next year. Tracy, regan & George will be back

      “brilliant hotel ”
just returned from cuba, staying at the Player Costa Verde Hotel.....just a quick mention to anyone flying by thomas cook airlines, who have upgraded to premier seating on the flight, biggest rip off i have ever experienced, you are paying for extra leg room only, no free bar, no free inflight entertainment, you have just what normal seating passengers receive. The player costa verde hotel in my opinion is fantastic, check in was fast and the bell boy takes you and your luggage to your room on a motor buggy. rooms are spacious and kept very clean, could do with a make over, but hey, it's just some where to sleep in. The new restaurant opened a week ago after a refurb, and its brilliant, spacious, it gets a little chaos if you go bang on opening times, the food is excellent, and like most places repetitive after a while, but, pork, steak, chicken and fish is available every day, if you dont want it from the serving dishes, you can have it cooked fresh in front of you. Monday night is fresh lobster and prawn night, cooked fresh in front of you, have as much as you want at no extra charge. Breakfast, consists of bacon, black pudding ( honest ) sausage, scrambled eggs, hash browns and other choices, fried eggs and omelettes are cooked for you to your taste, baked beans and even brown sauce, so is pancakes, and even fresh do-nuts.fresh fruit or cereal. Lunch times, as i have said, consists of pork, beef, chicken or fish, chips were available if they had potatoes, rice dishes and a selection of salad dishes. Dinner is much the same as lunch times, but some nights they have a joint of meat, beef, pork turkey or gammon that the chef carves for you. Also they have a poolside grill, where you can have burgers or hot dogs, also there is a 24 hr snack bar where you can get hot dogs, burgers and chips and also pizzas, also serves breakfast if you dont want to face the crowds in a morning. The hotel boasts three pools, the main pool with a excellent swim up bar, is spacious, and there are always plenty of empty sunbeds, the second pool is smaller, but quieter and is adjacent to the main pool, while the kid pool is to the rear of the small pool. The lounge bar is 24 hr inclusive, with a excellent choice of coffee and spirits and beers. they also have a ice cream parlour which was very conveniently by our room, 5317, just a liitle further is beer corner, that opens on a evening, which is quieter. The staff work very hard to please every one, entertainment shows, poolside activities, kids poolside games, nothing is to much trouble, so please show your appreciation by tipping staff, even if its only one pesso, also the a la carte were certainly worth a visit, would i recommend this hotel, would i return......the answer to both questions is.... YES... So, anyone flying out soon, i am sure you will have a fantastic time. Just the one annoying thing, internet, 6 pesso for one hour, don't bother, you either have trouble logging on, or logging off, we found problems with both of these, and if you just want to use 20 minutes of your internet time and you cant log off, then it will use all of your time in one go, most people did not bother, it was to much trouble.

“Liz and mick another great holiday. ”
Our 15th visit and as usual a great time was had, every person who works at cost verde make you feel as if you are part of a very happy family, they never say no to any request, if you want an extra visit to any of the specialty restaurants they will arrange it, the steak restaurant was excellent as usual. The only problem was that Thomas Cook did not inform their clients that the dining room was being refurbished this did not bother us and the refurbished dining room is now excellent. We will be back in March for our 16th visit and can't wait. We want to thank all the staff Vivian, Neirka, Pedro, Ricardo, Jesus, Sonia,Emma, o,Neal, Rolando, annia, Tatty, Darby, Adrianna, Tilda,Silie, Roberto, Tony, Lisel,Elice,Ludemiler, Jenny,Olivier, and anyone who I failed to mentioned. The only sad thing as far as the English guests are concerned is that the only tour agency that now go to Cuba is Thomas Cook they have the monopoly and they seem to think that they can treat us as they want
