“Trouble getting drinking water - don't bring your kids ”
I have visited this hotel twice with my spouse and loved it. Last visit we took along our 1 year old son, and trip turned into nightmare. Both my souse and son got bad diarrhea from kitchen's food (or water?). We were unable to get bottled water in the store and had to beg for it in the bar, since they would claim they don't have but still find a bottle every time we approach management. Sunwing rep was unable to organize water for us on regular basis. Diarrhea can be very dangerous for kids, Medical help we received was very poor and I don't know what would happen if we wouldn't take antibiotics with us from Canada. So, if you plan to come to this hotel with kids: - Call ahead make sure bottled water is available - Visit Travel Clinic at home to get right antibiotics with you Or, select better and safer destination for your trip with kids.

    “Disappointed! ”
The price was not too bad, but very high for what you're getting at this resort! I travelled with my oldest daughter. This was our fourth time to Cuba, first time at this area. First the good things: the beach is very nice, overlooking the mountains, beautiful! The people, the reason why we keep coming back to Cuba!! But I must say, although most people were very friendly, this was actually the first time I didn't feel completely safe. We love to take walks at the beach after supper. We did this only twice during our stay, because we were approached several times with questions. People wanted,money,clothes,gifts....not staff of the resort but locals. This felt very uncomfortable and wasn't appreciated at all, because of the rude way it was asked. Every time we go to Cuba,we bring lots of much needed things to give away, but we'd like to do so when we choose to do so,not when 'forced' to do so! Another good thing was the cleanliness of the room! Rosmelis is a sweetheart, she's the one who cleaned our room, and she's doing all she can to keep your room as clean as possible. Very appreciative of the gifts and tips we left her. The beds were okay,we didn't like the plastic mattress covers, but we just took them of ,no problem. Our window was broken and being held together with duct tape, which was kind of horrible, but well,it made us laugh too, what can you do? We basically only slept in the room so it was not the most horrible thing that week. What was horrible was the food. We are not snobs, believe me! We absolutely loved the food at the other resorts in Cuba were we went to before we took this trip. But the choices you had here were very, very limited!! The same food for lunch and diner the whole week! Not fresh, not nicely presented! Not even the fish, that was the most disappointing thing of it all. We could live of fish if we had too,but there was only tilapia, nothing else. The leftovers were served over and over again. No fries or pizzas, there was rice, pasta and sometimes boiled potatoes. But the food was usually not warm,so overall pretty upsetting. Also no pineapple, only the first day and the second last day. And being that there was no pineapple that also meant no piña colladas! Ramon at the pool bar is a very friendly guy,he always put a smile on our face!! We bought our first bottle of water in the store and after that we could exchange it for a full one at the bar,but only if Ramon was there. The other bartenders would just fill it up with 'regular' water, which is not recommended to drink. That was another disappointment , it was stated that we would receive a bottle of water in the fridge in our room every day, well that is not happening unfortunately. When I asked Kenia, the supposedly Sunwing rep., at the meeting right after we arrived, she said no that is not included. Overall we didn't see much of Kenia or Ahmed, who was to take over from Kenia, who was away for a few days. They weren't very helpfull or friendly at all. The most upsetting thing was this, Canadian ( single?) men ranging from age 35-65 traveling by themself. Meeting up with young, very young Cuban girls ( voluntarily or not?) and having them acoompany them everywhere. There were at least six guys at the time we were there! This was not a pleasant sight and the resort is small, with only one pool, one restaurant, one beach,so it was very hard to not see this. We were actually quite upset by this!! This was still a special week for my daughter and I,and we did enjoy ourself. But we would not return or recommend this resort. If this would have been our first time to Cuba,we would have been totally turned of,but we are going back for sure, just not to this area unfortunately!
