Good one
Set on one of the best areas of Varadero beach, in the Hicacos Peninsula. Sandals Hicacos Resort & Spa brings its Ultra All-Inclusive concept to Varadero. This resort is 30 minutes away from Varadero's International Airport, 2 hours away from Havana's International Airport and 10 minutes from downtown Varadero.

“Good stay, good location”
We stayed for a night on the way from Santa Clara to Havana. The hotel is in a great location, the beach is clean and good to swim in. The hotel has good facilities, the buffet is plentiful and lots of bar options. The room was huge, with a lovely view (garden view room) Only a couple of issues, but they were a bit off putting. Firstly the smell of eggs/sewage outside our room which I would assume is due to the pipes being near the surface. The other was that we did have some attitude from a couple of the staff which put us on edge. One being when we were having a stroll around the garden games area where we were blocked from walking and asked which room we were in. Secondly, our door lock stopped working in the morning, which was resolved and I reminded the reception a couple of times we had an extended check out whilst this was being sorted (which I was up at 7.30am to request) Then after a swim, just at the point we needed to get changed, the door was blocked, presumably as the extension wasn't recorded despite the multiple requests. Bit awkward standing in reception in swimming costumes trying again to get back into the room! Just made us a bit uncomfortable so we wouldnt particularly aim to return. One thing I would say - the road between the resort and the local airport is the smoothest you'll ever see in Cuba - enjoy it!
