“A little dissapointed ”
Just got back from 1 week at this resort, and I can say it's the first time I am dissapointed with the food. I have heard people complain about the food in Cuba before, but I would chalk it up to people being too picky. Well I am definitely not picky and I found it tough to get by. Breakfast was the only consistently decent meal, but even that was touch and go with the quality and quantity of fresh fruit. And don't get me started on the absence of vegetables - not one tomato to be found all week. This is in no way a slight against the Cubans, but about the hotel chain. I can live with the aging hotel, if I have two things; great beach and good food. The beach was great! The staff as lovely as always, but because of the food I likely won't be back to this resort, and possibly not the Melia chain. Because I was alone, I stayed in the main hotel. Don't do it the walls were paper thin - and it did not help that I was in an adjoining room to a young family that thought that yelling was an appropriate way of comunicating. Here's some tips if you are going soon: breakfast at main buffet, burgers at the beach restaurant, pizza at the Lunas pool, and pay the 15cuc for nice steak and lobster dinner.
“All you need for a relaxing holidat ”
We have just returned from our 1st holiday in Cuba and so pleased that we stayed at the Sol Rio de Luna y Maras. It was brilliant. We thought we would be on the Luna side as our travel agent said it would be quieter but on arrival found our room was in Maras. That was not a problem, infact it was for the best. The animation team work very hard and the entertainment all day long is very good. All the staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We went to the Italian restaurant but were not that impressed but the French was so much better ( that is our view). The beach is everything that you dream a Caribbean beach to be with plenty of beds and shade. Nobody need to go hungry or thirsty as there is a great selection in the restaurant. My only comment on the restaurant is I think it would be nice if shorts were not worn there evenings. We will certainly have another holiday there.
“Looking forward to Returning”
Myself and my partner stayed here in May 2012 and cannot wait until the 8th December 2014 when we are back but sadly this time for only two weeks. We both know we will be welcomed by all members of staff as each and everyone of them are courteous and helpful to all guests at all times. We stayed at another Hotel last year but have decided to return as we enjoyed our stay here better. The food and entertainment is is brilliant and cannot wait to see you all.Sandra & John
“Absolute Paradise! ”
Stayed here last November but only just got round to writing a review. This is my favourite holiday so far and I would recommend to anyone. I am a Travel Agent and was really impressed with everything about this hotel. We booked a Sea View room - definitely worth the extra cost! We were greeted off the transfer coach with a cocktail, we had already checked in on the Transfer so we were shown to our rooms quickly. The A La Carte restaurants were amazing - especially the French Restaurant! We eat here twice on the A La Carte and also booked the romatic meal which was fabulous! I would recommend taking a thermal cup/flask for during the day- the bar staff will happily fill these up for you and they keep them nice and cool and stop any sand getting into your drink! The beach restaurant was amazing and much nicer than the buffet, although the Buffet was good too! Staff were amazing, hotel was beautiful and the weather was fab - would go back tomorrow!!!
The place was gorgeous. For our honeymoon we were upgraded to the suite even though we booked the day before we left :-) staff were always helpful and friendly for a chat especially at the pool bar in the main pool! I would definitely go again! The only down is the food as it gets very "samey" after a few days ayce buffet style is good but would be nice to have theme nights maybe! Overall I loved this holiday! Thank you to all staff :-)
“Fantastic Resort ”
The very best vacation after going to Cuba 14 times. They went up and beyond to make my birthday so very special for this a big thank you to all the wonderful smiling staff. Our room was perfect with a super ocean view kept very clean the maid was so friendly and helpful. The thing we liked there was no line ups for food or drinks and it all was very good. We spent most of our time at the Luna pool area and met some wonderful repeat guests plus enjoyed the snack bar with all the friendly young ladies. Ricardo you deserve a lot of credit for the wonderful staff you have and we look forward to returning next year God willing.
“Perfect Breakaway from the hustle bustle ”
Three weeks of pure bliss. Lovely rooms on ground floor close to the beach. Brilliant choice of food and drinks. Several different types of cuisine, we tried and loved them all for different reasons. Fizzy wine was the tastiest in the a la carte. SHows and markets came into the hotel complex so no need for trips. We needed a complete break and really got it here. Thank you.
