“A little dissapointed ”
Just got back from 1 week at this resort, and I can say it's the first time I am dissapointed with the food. I have heard people complain about the food in Cuba before, but I would chalk it up to people being too picky. Well I am definitely not picky and I found it tough to get by. Breakfast was the only consistently decent meal, but even that was touch and go with the quality and quantity of fresh fruit. And don't get me started on the absence of vegetables - not one tomato to be found all week. This is in no way a slight against the Cubans, but about the hotel chain. I can live with the aging hotel, if I have two things; great beach and good food. The beach was great! The staff as lovely as always, but because of the food I likely won't be back to this resort, and possibly not the Melia chain. Because I was alone, I stayed in the main hotel. Don't do it the walls were paper thin - and it did not help that I was in an adjoining room to a young family that thought that yelling was an appropriate way of comunicating. Here's some tips if you are going soon: breakfast at main buffet, burgers at the beach restaurant, pizza at the Lunas pool, and pay the 15cuc for nice steak and lobster dinner.
