Cayo Jutía is one of the most important tourist attractions of Minas de Matambre. Located in the Santa Lucia Zone and a distance of 7.2 km from the coast, is famous for its natural beauty.Unique attraction offers to the visitors, the rockfill allows the access to the mentioned place. With a length of 12 km and 15 m wide, this work is one of the largest made in the province in the 90s.

This was the first rockfill built in Pinar del Rio. That route of communication with the Cayo (Key), shows the surrounding landscape composed by the wooded hills of the Sierra de los Organos, located on the east, and the white beaches of Cayo Mégano at north and of course the sea with its different shades. The rockfill has 11 bridges, the largest of them 60 meters, which allows the exchange of ocean currents to avoid destructive effects on flora and fauna.

This constructive work is not only a working feat but the distinguishing seal of Northern Santa Lucia area increasingly frequented by tourists eager to enjoy its unique nature.

  • Cayo Jutias is located in Pinar del Rio
  • Because of the richness, variety and excellent preservation of its flora and fauna, Pinar del Río is called "the garden of Cuba." UNESCO has declared the Guanahacabibes Peninsula and the Rosario Mountain Range biosphere reserves, and the Viñales Valley a world cultural heritage. The land in which the world's best tobacco is grown also offers you wonderful opportunities for scuba diving, hunting, fishing or simply relaxing and tanning at the beach.,

Since the 19th century, Havana residents have been drawn by the natural beauty of Vueltabajo, and they have flocked to Los Portales Cave, to San Diego de los Baños, to receive the benefits of its mineral-medicinal and thermal waters; and to the Viñales Valley, to gaze at its natural beauty.,

Pinar del Río is just 174 km (108 miles) from Havana. A good highway links the two cities. The architecture in its historic center is eclectic, and its low houses in gentle colors, whose porches seem to form an endless gallery, have great charm. On the outskirts of the city, modern buildings break its horizontal lines. ,

When visiting Pinar del Río's provincial capital, be sure to tour the Guayabita del Pinar Distillery, where the drink of the same name is still made by hand, following an age-old recipe; the Guash Palace, the Milanés Theater and the Rumayor Cabaret.,

Quiet, comfortable hotels have been built in some of the most beautiful spots in Pinar del Río, to facilitate your enjoyment of Nature. Cayo Levisa has a delightful, sunny beach, and the province also offer excellent opportunities for scuba diving, hunting and fishing.

    Nice beaches
This peaceful islet place is so close to the mainland that a stone causeway has been build to link the two. Even so, it exudes an aura of isolation and is an ideal place for the idea of having the beach to yourself, there are over four miles (7 km) of white-sand beaches and a few people, so you can always find a spot with nobody in sight. It's a lovely destination for a day's excursion.

“Beautiful beach day in Cuba ”
My group of 20 or so made an overnight trip to Vinales and Pinar del Rio. We spent the first afternoon on the beach at Cayo Jutias at a private palapas stocked with beer, wine and rum. Sumptuous grilled lobster, snapper, whole pig and all the trimmings was prepared for us. Plenty of Mojitos and cigars were had by all.... More

    “Lovely beach near Vinales ”
Beautiful hideaway easily reachable from Vinales. The beach and sea are simply postcard material. We preferred it to the more celebrated Cayo Levisa, as one doesn't need to put up with a 40 min ferry ride - both ways, in a very old ferry. And there are fewer pink tourists :) Snorkeling and pedal boating are available, if the azure... More

    “Beautiful ”
If you are staying in Viñales, you MUST go there! The tour will be 15 CUC w/o lunch and 20 CUC with lunch. Once you get there, try to avoid the crowds and walk on the path to your left (If you´re facing the ocean) to more private beaches , so you will get the notion the beautiful cay is... More

    “Nice beach near Vinales ”
We took a taxi ride for an hour to hang out here for a day. Pretty little beach, not too busy, a few sun loungers to hire, and a beach side bar and restaurant, the snorkeling off the beach was not so exciting but you can get a boat out to reef. A nice place to chill out and top... More

    “Lovely location, great beach ”
Went here for a day from Vinales and really enjoyed it. Quite relaxed but all the facilities - shaded sunbeds, fresh water showers, adequate loos, nice little bar/restaurant with reasonable prices. Lovely shallow white sand beach

“A Highlight of Our Trip ”
Our hosts in Viñales arranged for a neighbour with a car(taxi) to take us to the beach for the day. It was a 1950's Studebaker and set the mood for the day. Cubans are not noted for road signs and markers so having our guide was invaluable. We got a chance to see the countryside, small villages and hamlets and... More

    “Life's a Beach ”
Cayo Jutías is about 60 km away from Viñales, and that represents 1h-1h30 bus drive to get there. It's very worthwhile: white sand, mixture of blue/green water, and those awkward dried tree trunks along the sand. Little Restaurant, a scuba diving club and shades made out of rows of palm tree compose the "entrance" of the beach, and the rest... More
