Rating Jibacoa Beach
This beautiful beach, also known as Playa Amarillo is on the north coast of Havana Province (Santa Cruz del Norte), 60 km. from the capital city and 50 km. from Varadero, Jibacoa is located: a beach of remarkable beauty on account of the peculiar layout of the more than 100 meters high hills surrounding it. Like other beaches of that area, Jibacoa coast has, as outstanding features, inlets and sea shelves with a high crag called like the beach (El PeĂ±Ă³n de Jibacoa) looking over it. This crag gives the small beach (500 meters long) a pleasant feeling of privacy. Jibacoa, Boca de Jaruco, El Fraile, Puerto Escondido and El Abra, lie on coves bordered on the inland side by hills or cliffs which give them great landscape attractive. The quality of these beaches is excellent. The sand area near the shores stretches to the edge of the island shelf. Their crystal-clear water is warm most of the year, and their sea bottoms are inhabited by coral beds and a thriving underwater life. That’s why it’s and ideal area for diving and gazing at the matchless sea bottoms having underwater grottos and coral reefs. Besides sun, sand and sea sports, the visitor can enjoy other outdoor activities like horse riding and boat trips. The visitor can take lodgings at the Breezes Jibacoa Hotel or choose camping at El Abra, where there is a diving center, offering beginner courses and immersions at the coral reef. Among the most inviting immersions is the visit to the Jibacoa and Sparta ships. The Jibacoa, a cargo ship, and the military ship Sparta have lain sunken for about twenty years. The ships were used for military target practice, becoming eventually a favourite haunt for divers. The Jibacoa is visible from the surface and the Sparta lies on its side complete with guns, ladders and anchor ropes. The visitor gets to Jibacoa through VĂa Blanca, a 4 lane highway linking Havana City with Matanzas. It’s a panoramic road bordering the ocean and running through the most beautiful zone in Havana province as to landscapes

very nice beach to snorkelling
Beach is very nice with some stones at the shore but there are places to enter the water where there are no stones.
Snorkelling here is excellent is you are willing to swim out about 100 metres where the coral is about 10 feet below the surface and then drops off to about 40-50 feet. I have snorkelled in other places like Cozumel and this was just as good and very convenient.
