Founded in the early 20th century in Camagüey, the Hotel Plaza is the oldest working hotel in the city. It still maintains most of its original architecture. A site for an obligatory visit in the city, this facility is proud to have welcomed Chilean poet Gabriela Mistral as a guest. The hotel was also the site from where the first Cuban radio station outside Havana was broadcast. Intimate and appealing, this hotel is known for the friendly treatment by its employees and by its excellent geographical location, at the intersection of the city's two main streets and just a few meters away from its commercial hub.
“A bit off city centre ”
Stayed one night while driving across Cuba. Hotel rather worn and run down, but the price wasn't more than a casa, so then I guess it's to be expected. They had satellite with a range of US channels, incl HBO. So good if you want to watch a movie. The location is a bit of a walk away from the city centre, but it is very convenient for the train station (just opposite). If you're having breakfast, try their snack bar/restaurant on the corner: good food and extremely cheap compared to rest of Cuba!
