The town of Bayamo, founded in 1513 by Conquistador Diego Velázquez, was the town where Cuba's National Anthem was composed and the birthplace of Cuban patriot Carlos Manuel de Céspedes.
“The best in Bayamo ”
We stayed here one night for a 'fly-by' visit en route from Santiago to Trinidad.
The hotel is nice and clean with a cosy colonial-style reception area with a bar - and it is situated right on the square in the centre of town.
Our rooms were quite small with small bathrooms but they were clean and well-kept and the air-conditioning was working well - however the bath-rooms had an opening onto to the central hall, so the air-conditioning did not work well if the door to the bathroom was open.
We had a good evening meal in the restaurant, however the breakfast was a so-so experience - not a buffet but a 'set menu' - with eggs cooked-to-order.
The staff were service-minded and attentive and the experience overall was ok.
