“WORST RESORT and TRIP EVER!! ”
I am disgusted by the treatment i received at this Hotel. I paid $400 extra for a Superior Ocean View room, which didn't exist. The person Katia ( working in the VIP section for guests) told me to go back to my room, or she was calling Security and would make sure that we had problems at CUSTOMS!! It was insane and ruined my entire trip. This resort, Sunwing and REDTAG.CA had fake pictures on the website and when I brought it to their attention, the Sunwing Rep said you booked on a fake website. I was extremely upset because he had zero empathy. I paid $400 extra for no reason. It was a complete waste of money. Sunwing offered me a $75 travel voucher, for the next time. I will never use any of these three companies ever again.
“Don't Waste Your Time and Money ”
We have travelled extensively over the years but by far this was the worst hotel. For anyone to give this a 4 star rating should be ashamed of themselves, do not know any better or were drunk 24/7. The only thing good about the hotel is the location from the airport. You have to watch out where you walk everywhere as there is missing tiles and holes in the concrete. On the second day a lady broke her leg. We were in an upgraded room which was a disaster. Dirty, a toilet that was not secured with bolts to hold in place. Beds were terrible. Food was poor, terrible coffee, terrible espresso. Drinks were watered down and nothing premium. Had to pay for a corona and premium liquor. Also when you are going to the Buffet or restaurants the swamp passes around and through the hotel so you get the most appetizing whiff before your meal. Could not go to the beach in the morning as the tide was up to the wall. At 2pm in the afternoon tide was out and there was approx. 10 feet of dry sand which was where the palapas are located. Look at the pictures of the beach area that people have posted. I could not believe that some of the people have been at the same hotel 10 or 15 times. We visited the whole area and many hotels, and believe me there is nothing special in swamp land Cayo Coco. There is only one newer Hotel in the whole or should I say HOLE area. Won't be back even for FREE.
“Carefully consider before booking ”
We stayed at the Tryp between 8th to 22rd October 2014 and while we were aware that the Tryp had been described as tired in many reviews, it quickly became apparent that "tired" is being kind. Rooms - first offered 1061 overlooking the quiet pool. The room smelled of damp, was dark and the white paint on the wardrobes was turning yellow. The door to the room was flimsy and you could see daylight through the top panel. We returned to reception and was then offered room 707 near the main pool. This was much cleaner and was described as refurbished but for this room, refurbished merely meant the walls had been painted. The bath with missing enamel, broken toilet and shower screen substituting as a bathroom door( with peeling paint so that the metal frame was visible) contradicted the definition of refurbished. We took the room as it was clear while walking between the two rooms that the whole resort is run down and in a similar condition. The room was cleaned daily and the air-con worked which was a bonus with the hot and humid conditions. TV had a number of channels and you could always find something to watch. Various channels showed movies and while some in Spanish, you could turn on the subtitles in English. Door to room would not lock and had to be repaired at 10.45pm - wasn't able to fix fully so promised to call back - never did so resorted to a self fix. Food - I have been to many AI hotels throughout the world and you generally know what you are going to get. Food was average though, warm at best and not much variance. Labels rarely matched the food in the trays so beware - beef in breadcrumbs was actually liver much to my wife's horror! We ate at two of the speciality restaurants and the food was much better. Snacks at the 24hr bar were limited and not very nice but the food at the beach bar was ok. Drinks - for the first time anywhere in the world, we struggled with the cerveza - very acidic and varied wildly between the various bars and restaurants. Resorted to buying bottles of Corona for 1 cuc, not what you want to do on an AI holiday. May just be us though as some guests seem to enjoy the cervesa judging by the amount consumed in giant insulated mugs. Spirits of the usual AI quality, ok but not great. One point to note was that on our last night, the hotel rang out of wine. I had to purchase two bottles of wine which of course, there was plenty of stock. The lobby bar shuts at 11pm so from about 10.15pm onwards, they start the stock-take and generally dislike giving out drinks in glasses resorting to the usual "sorry no glasses" excuse and use plastic cups. On two occasions we also saw the Bar Manager Osmandy topping up the branded spirits during stock take from a plastic cup - as to why he was doing this, draw your own conclusions. We also witnessed staff on a nightly basis helping themselves to drinks not water or juice, alcoholic drinks - it was hilarious, they would pour the drink then duck down behind the bar so people couldn't see and consume the drink. Pool Area - this was actually quite nice, easy to get sunbeds, pool seemed clean and pool swim up bar also welcome. The ground around the pool could do with maintenance in places but on the whole, we enjoyed the pool. Entertainment - they do their best and put on a show of some kind each night - it was low season so less people around but they still worked very hard and some of them were very good. Games around the pool during the day also fun, Beach - amazing, lovely soft white sand, not the biggest but still extremely nice. Beach bar was small but good atmosphere and staff there very nice. Resort in general - as mentioned earlier, very run-down, nowhere near the 3 star advertised in the brochure/website and even further away than the 4 stars advertised in Reception. Whole blocks were shut down when we were there with renovation works ongoing throughout the day, disc cutters from early morning etc. Rather than work on one block a time, they seem to be doing bits and pieces all over so the impression you get is quite poor. Its to be applauded that renovations are taking place but its being handled in a very poor way. Adds to the feeling that the resort is in a poor condition. I would give the resort 1 star in its current condition and major works, significantly wider in scope than being made at the moment are needed to bring it up to 3 star standards. Fogging only happened at the resort mid way into the second week and even then, on a small scale. We took 50% strength Deet and still suffered badly. As a comparison we went to the Sol a mile or so up the road for a day - as its the sister Hotel you can use all the facilities - much better, wished we had chosen that one, Staff - on the whole, very friendly and helpful. Ricardo at the Quiet Pool Bar gets special mention as does Niuris who worked in the Lobby Bar. So to sum up, would I recommend the Tryp - in its current condition, absolutely no. With some improvements to its food and drink AI offering and major works to rooms, possibly. It has some very good features which are being wasted at the moment and I hope that the General Manager, Asier Baquero (who to his credit, was very visible around the resort throughout the two weeks we were there) drives an improvement programme to bring the Tryp up to expected standards.
“Old resort under repair ”
This is not a 4 star resort. Its very old and the rooms are moldy and dirty. Half the resort is under renovation(kid pool closed/snack bar closed/stage closed) and it doesn't look like the pictures on the website. The food is good and the pool/kids entertainers were good however they don't make up for the unfriendly staff. If you go here, don't expect a 4 star resort. We did and were very disappointed. Won't ever go back. This more of a 2 or 3 star resort.
“needs much improvement ”
stayed 15-29th Oct The good points are the renovated room we requested by the quiet pool, the quiet pool and Ricardo the pool barman, our maid who kept our room nice and clean. The downside was the terrible food in the buffet restuarant, it was always only just warm and looked like it had been congealing for hours, this was unless you chose to have something cooked in front of you which becomes a little tedious and boring after a few days. when we commented on the foods temp we were told to use the microwave!! The al-cart menu's were poor half of the choices were unavailable. We paid for the lobster in the Pica restuarant and had to wait for about an hour and 20 mins and it was uneatable as its was stone cold in the centre, we put a complaint about this in at guest services but nothing further was ever heard about this. The was no hot water for 2 days after enquiring we were told that there was a water pipe burst and that we could shower in the courtesay room if we wanted, this was located on the otherside of the complex to where we were staying. The Lobby is very loud and has the most uncomfortable chairs, its based right by the stage and you have no option to listen to the kids clubs and shows, we were told this complex has several bars and restuarants however there is only one bar at night and there is no Fish or pizza restraunt (this is now a wasted shack). The bar service at the lobby was often very slow and your drink was often served in a small plastic clear cup - even coffee. The beach has to have been one of the worse i have ever been to, the tide comes in too high and leaves a lot of seaweed debris which is then swept into piles and a tractor comes and removes daily. This is the 1st complex where we have actually made a complaint about anything but it seems to be a wasted effort. This was our 3rd time to cuba so we knew what to expect or so we thought we do plan to go back to this lovely country again next year - However it certainly WON'T be here!!!
“Economical Tropical Getaway ”
We stayed at Tryp Cayo Coco in July, 2014. This was our first visit to Cuba. It is definitely not a luxurious resort but the rooms are clean. Many upgrades are required. The food is so-so. You will not go hungry. The staff is wonderful and you cannot beat the beautiful ocean...calm, azur blue water with white powdery sand. As someone previously said it is a great resort for someone on a budget.
“Fun TRYP in July 2014”
My husband and I took our son to Cuba for his first birthday. This is also our first trip as a family and first time in Cuba. The renovation was on-going during our visit. Our first room was in Block 8, a crib was present and although the room is clean - it smelled funny, like mold. We transferred to another room the next day and this is where we stayed for the entire trip. It was much better in the Block 9. There were so many guests during our visit so there are not much rooms to choose from. All staff are very friendly and if you leave a dollar or two daily, they leave extra water bottle and fresh towels. Food wise - it was okay. But I would suggest not to try the oriental restaurant. We liked the buffet so much better - we were also lucky to have the opportunity to buy a live lobster and have it cooked for us so please ask if it is available. :) Also try the fresh coconut juice while you're relaxing by the beach. We also requested for a chocolate cake for our son's first birthday and they accommodated us - just be very specific and asked for the whole cake not to be sliced. The beach was nice as well as the pool and there are so many activities night and day to choose from. Just wake up a little bit early to reserve your pool/beach chairs. Overall, we had a good stay and we have fun!
“Don't like bad news ”
Visited Tryp November. I commented to Customer Service management about my observations in The Buffet Restaurant. After several visits over the past 6 years, one would have thought they would be grateful, but they .appeared to be annoyed.. It seems they think that all is perfect at Tryp. Also, there were pictures in the lobby of all the Manager with the department heads. With this New Manager , there are no pictures, so guests are left wondering who is in charge.. Is there something to hide??.
“Not a 4 star but amazing beach! ”
First off I want to start out by saying that this was my first time in Cuba. I've only ever stayed at 5 star all inclusive resorts in other parts of the Caribbean so my expectations might have been a bit high. Here is my breakdown for this hotel: The Good: The beach is spectacular. It was hands down the most beautiful beach I've ever seen. There were lots of chairs and always someone serving drinks right to you which was a huge bonus. The food for the most part was good. The trick is finding what you like and sticking to it, the pizza at the beach side restaurant is excellent as well as all the food stations at the buffet, specifically the pasta station and the fry up station. The staff in the restaurants and at the bars are extremely friendly and always happy to see you and serve you. The Bad: The front desk lady at check in was incredibly rude and tainted my trip right from the get go. Did not seem happy that we were there, seemed annoyed to have to check us in and refused to tell us where our building was or get anyone to help us with our luggage. Another huge issue was the fact there were limited washrooms on site. No washrooms near the pool, especially if you were at the quiet pool. We ended up just trucking back to our room half the time which was a huge hassle. The Ugly: Our toilet did not flush in our room. We told Guest Services about it on the first day we got there, he didn't seem to care, shrugged his shoulders and wrote something down. No one ever came to fix it. It would take around 6-10 flushes to clear the toilet bowl. Our room was also very run down. Comparable to what a 2 or 3 star resort in Mexico would look like. The only saving grace was our picturesque ocean view. With all that being said, everyone I talked to at the resort had been to the Tryp several times and absolutely loved every second of it. I chalked it up to the fact that most people from the resort were from Eastern Canada and maybe it's just what they are used to. For me, being from Vancouver, it was a very long and expensive journey to get to Cayo Coco so I just expected a lot more. Lesson learned!
“Relax, Great Beach!! ”
Upon arrival at the hotel you're greeted with a smile, hola and a glass of rum punch, thanks Nourisys, then a short 10 to 20 mins to check-in. Lobby area and grounds were very clean thanks to the cleaning staff and all the gardeners. Room very clean with a GREAT a/c also a few upgrades, new tiles, toilet and flat screen TV. For the activities, thank you Cecilia for the morning Zumba and aqua fitness classes. Yudenia and her assistant/s for the afternoon poolside activities, from best belly flops to bingo! Shout out to Steve, Danny and all the others for the beach activities! Yomaira at the beauty salon (she's also one of the dancers and a good one too). The buffet has large variety of hot and cold prepared dishes which are quite tasty or you can chose your ingredients and they'll cook/grill it to your liking as in fish, chops, even fried rice. The A la cartes you have to book reservations, they're worth it. Animation team for the evening entertainment were great, there were different kinds of dancing, talent show (I voted for Rihanna :) ), even fashion show. Before I forget, the beach was AMAZING!!! I didn't travel with kids but from what I saw and heard the kids there all loved it! Don't forget to take with you a Bubba mug for your drinks (6 oz plastic cups not so good). I have and will recommend this resort. It's not a 5 star but it's clean, has a great beach, fantastic staff, pretty good food, oh those fresh coconuts, also they are upgrading, hopefully B6 & 7 will be complete before I come back next year!!
“Relaxing/Great Staff ”
My Girlfriend and two other friends stayed at Tryp Cayo Coco in April 2014. The resort is a quick trip about 15minutes from the airport. Upon arrival check-in went quick and easy. Our friends booked with another agency and therefore our rooms were in a different location. Tryp thought they would put us in rooms side by side as a favor which was very thoughtful. Our agent booked us to a room with a window in the bathroom which I can understand now why she did that... The room we received was VERY outdated and Dirty as well. We immediately called front desk and they gladly moved us rooms within an hour. Our new room was much cleaner and not so gloomy but definitely need upgrades. Pool Area: The pool area was nice, swim up bar had cold beer and that's all that mattered for me drink wise. and lots of chairs to sit and lay on. Bring a Bubba for your drinks! Pool was cleaned everyday and entertainment staff was very good always had something going on all day in the pool. Beach: All I can say about the beach is it is AMAZING! We loved it. Food: The food here is relatively good and there was a lot to choose from. I was kind of sick for a few days but this also happened to me in Mexico so I think I have a soft stomach. The staff at the buffet were great and accommodating and always greeted you with a smile. for the dinner we had the same waiter all week and he bent over backwards for us! would walk to the lobby bar to get my girlfriend her vodka and diet coke. He was an amazing happy man and did everything for us. Also the pizza hut by the beach serves very good pizzas! if you want a change from the buffet this is a good spot for lunch. Main lobby bar serves an amazing cappuccino! make sure to try one. The nightly entertainment worked very hard. The shows were pretty good and we attended most nights. was interactive for most shows. The disco was a bit boring as not many people attended. Overall the rooms defiantly need work but the hard working staff make this place an enjoyable place to stay. I would rate this Resort a 3+ Stars.
“Awesome beach, great pool, rooms need work ”
My friend and I spent a week at this property in October. The beach is beautiful, and the pool is wonderful, but the rooms are bordering on scary. There are stains on all the towels and sheets. The bathtub in my room had huge gouges out of the porcelain and a hand held shower head that pointed straight at the opposite wall, and could not be adjusted to spray down into the tub. My friend had her own room. The shower head in her bath room was a permanent fixture, but she was afraid to adjust it because it looked like it was ready to fall off the wall. Having said that, the staff were wonderful. Our housekeeper always had a warm smile and a friendly greeting when she saw us. She did a great job on keeping the rooms clean. I understand that the hotel is working on upgrading many of the rooms at this time so by peak season this year many of these issues may be resolved. Hopefully they are replacing the mattresses and pillows as part of the reno - it was like sleeping on a cement slab. The a la carte restaurants were good. We had dinner at the Chinese Restaurant one night and the food was delicious, although we were disappointed that they were out of spring rolls. The next night we had dinner at the Italian restaurant. The atmosphere and service in both these restaurants was lovely. The fried mozzarella appetizer was amazing. I was disappointed in my pasta - I ordered short pasta with bolognese sauce. I got penne pasta with a heap of ground beef on top - no tomato sauce what so ever. It was tasty, but not what I expected. Our last night we had reservations at the Grill & BBQ restaurant. That afternoon we received a note that the dinner would be held at the outdoor restaurant by the beach instead of in the Grill Restaurant. We rushed through dinner because we were being eaten alive with mosquitos. The steak was passable, but definitely nothing to get excited about. The hotel has a policy of 2 a la carte reservations per room for a 1 week stay, and 3 for a 2 week stay. We tried to make 2 reservations for each room, but the person taking the reservations said that she couldn't do that. When we pressed her she let us make 3. Many of the restaurants were only 1/2 full but guests were being told that there was no space available. Be prepared to have late reservations. All of our reservations were for 8:30 or 8:45. The only other comment that I have is regarding the disco. The hotel took advantage of the low occupancy in October to do some renovations in the disco. To accommodate that the disco was held in the theatre for 5 of the 7 nights we were there. We were staying in building 7, which is right beside the theatre and pool. The music from the disco went on till 1 or 2am making for a very difficult night's sleep. I don't think this is a typical issue, but it did disrupt our vacation. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. We did have a nice week. Just be prepared for the lower standards. Don't expect the same 4 star property that you would get in other parts of the world. If you keep that in mind you will love this property.
“average hotel ”
This was our second time in cuba , the last being in 2010. The hotel definitely needs an update. We arrived and they give us a room on block 12 .it was awful. and after 2 days they change it for a renovated room on block 10. The food has no flavour and always the same and no variety . The beach is great, the staff is wonderful and friendly. ! For the price we paid during this low season, it is well worth it. Regular season prices, it is over priced. It seems the third floor rooms are in better shape. All in all, Tryp is worth it during low season.....beware of Mosquitos during this period .the pool for the kids was so dirty and child club was close. .thanks to fis, ricardo , marbelos. For sure, we will back to cuba just because of the hospitalities of the Cuban.
My girlfriend and I were at Tryp Oct. 20-27th 2014. As with all Cuban resorts, it is not true to its' star-rating. Giving it a 3-star rating is being generous. I have no doubt that it would have been a 4-star when new. We were told that the resort is 18 years old, but I would have thought it was much older than that. From walking around the property, I would estimate that 60% of the blocks are not currently being used and are awaiting renovation. All of the buildings are in desperate need of mildew-removal and paint. Our room was clean but dated. The highlight of the trip was our fantastic chambermaid Yuleidi who took incredibly good care of our room all week. Common areas of the resort such as the lobby are well-kept. One thing that we couldn't help but notice was that the entire property is very slippery. This was largely due in part to the 3 1/2 days of rain we had on our trip, which was certainly not the resorts' fault. If you like to wear flip-flops on vacation, be very weary walking around this property, as ceramic tile is everywhere and NOT of the non-skid variety. Both my girlfriend and I fell into the "hot tub" at the main pool because it is about a half-metre drop down to the step. This is not marked, and is quite dangerous. We saw many people literally fall into it because you can't judge the depth to the step by looking at it. The tub itself is colder than the main pool, we didn't waste our time after falling into it. We were disappointed with drinks and bar-service in general. You cannot get a frozen drink anywhere at this resort, which is ridiculous for a Caribbean hotel. They all have the freezers, but apparently none of them work. One shining star in this respect was Ricardo at the quiet pool who made phenomenal cocktails, and used a blender to accommodate guests wanting a frozen drink. We looked forward to breakfast each morning, where we loved the fresh-cooked omelettes made with a smile by chef Fis. Although many menu items were good, we found that there was not much variety, and we were tired of the same old food by the end of the week. There are stray cats and free-roaming chickens competing with the crabs for food all over the place. We watched a chicken walk up and proceed to eat a ladys' coconut one day while she was in the pool. Not sure why a 4-star rated hotel would allow this on property. Contrary to many reports, internet access is available for an additional fee. WiFi is only available in the lobby, not the rooms, and is acceptably quick. Overall, staff at Tryp are great, but between the mosquitoes terrorizing my girlfriend all week, the lack of food choices, and the general condition of the property, I have to say we wouldn't go back.
“Best Tryp Ever!! ”
My husband and I went to Tryp Cayo Coco three years ago for our honeymoon. When we arrived, without knowing beforehand the manager greeted us and promptly checked us in privately and during the whole stay showered us with special gifts. The first night there we met a special bartender who made our first night one to remember!! Since then we have been back and will be going again Jan 2015. The rest of the holiday was amazing, the 3 story units, lush grounds and palm tree lined paths. An amazing beach, with short walks to everywhere on this resort. All of the staff are amazing. We never once felt at all threatened or worried about our belongings. The food is great, in fact my husband put on weight while we were there, enjoying the freshly prepared food in front of you. Many restaurants and places to eat and drink, with huge selections of food, something for everyone. The layout of the lobby bar, how it overlooks the resort and where everyone gathers in the evening, is the perfect atmosphere for a resort. You can mingle or lounge while the entertainment is showing and still be with all the guests. It has been two years since we had the opportunity to return. I can say the rooms may have been a bit dated, but were clean, the a/c works, good water pressure with hot water, the rest falls into place. Two years ago they started renovations which look great in photos and can't wait to see. We can not wait to return to our place in Cuba to "Forget About Reality" See you Jan 15 2015
“beautiful freindly place ”
Well I would like to say that my husband and I have been to tryp Cayo Coco 4 times this year it is such a beautiful place and very friendly a lot to see great shows .The only down fault is the rooms can be more updated and the filling up of the toilet paper should be taking care of more often
“A great week”
Just returned from a week at the Tryp Cayo coco. It was a beautiful warm sunny week. The resort itself is a little run down. Needs paint, a little TLC. but that s just cosmetics, the ambiance was amazing. The staff were very friendly. The Entertainment crew--especially Steve was amazing. We never went to bed passed midnight. Alot of people complain about the food..ITs cuba- they try accomadate everyones taste. A little hint--you only have two or three reservations at the ala carte--but if you go in with some pesos and a little charm you can be seated..we did it 4 times-- and it was the best food--the Oriental, and international...If you go, speak with Julio Ceasar, very humble and friendly and charasmatic fellow. The mosquitoes are very present--I used citronella oil ( aromatherapy) on my points and i nver got bitten once. Also at the end of your trip-book the VIP lounge at the airport- its 18 cuc--they feed you, and you can you drink, and it is air conditioned and priority boarding at the plane. Would I go back--yes--met alot of different people and that is what the experience--its a great resort if you are travelling solo or with a group..no one went lonely.
We were 5 adults travelling week of August 30, 2014. The beach is beautiful but in the morning the water comes up high on the beach so very little sand and dirty from the seaweed. After lunch much nicer. Water always beautiful. IT WAS extremely hot around 38F, so it was very nice and cool to stay near the water. The rooms were sufficient size. MINE was clean but my son had a couple of cockroaches. Management did move them to another room, ocean-view but they had the same problem, The pool was nice and there is a swim up bar. Drinks are in very tiny cups so bring a bubba if you drink a lot. They were not consistent, depending on which bar you went to. Did not like the cappuccinos but the cold coffee was really good. The food was very good. Pretty much the same every day but lots of variety. Choose your meat and they cook it in front of you. All kinds of food. The entertainment was good. Sometimes they had cotton candy and churros there as well. They sprayed for mosquitoes every night just before the show so it was fine. Bring a flashlight with you because it can be quite dark going back to your room. There is a bus that comes to the lobby to take you to PILLAR beach - gorgeous, for only $5.00 return. At the beach everything is $2.00 - beer, ice cream, chairs. ON The way back we got off at the flea market. very tiny, but something to do. Then you can take that same bus back. We also went to Sol Cayo Coco.We walked there. You get a paper from front desk and exchange it for bracelet at the hotel. IT IS quite a distance in the intense heat. They have a trolley that comes to the hotel $2.00 pp return. IN my opinion, the short time we were there, the food was not as good and the surroundings as well - I WOULD CHOOSE tRYP. Exchanged money at front desk and they were accommodating. Something interesting that I have not seen at other resorts was the flamingos on the property, as well as chickens, roosters, a goat, and lots of crabs everywhere. We would definitely go back.
“Great value! ”
We just got back about a week ago from our first time to Cuba. We couldn't have been happier. The resort is a bit tired bit they're fixing it up as we speak. It was very clean, the food was fantastic and service was very good and the beach was absolutely beautiful. We are already starting to plan our next trip.
“Fun time ”
was fun all the way, food is good for Cuba and the stall is amazing the entertainment was entertaining day and night, for the price it was great, can't wait to go back , the beach was ok at will go back.
“Good Value for Price ”
Just returned from the Tryp Cayo Coco. We went with three other couples. We where a little disappointed on the outside condition of the buildings. We stayed in building 12. They are in need of painting and the access doors to the plumbing are falling off or just leaning against the walls. The rooms are dated but very clean. I never saw one bug or ant in the room, a first for Cuba. Beds where good. Food was as good as any other Cuban resort we have stayed at. Beach is the best we have seen, lots of sun shades. The quiet pool area was nice. Night shows could have been better. All the workers, waiters and bartenders where very super nice and friendly. We would return to the Tryp again for the money we paided. Hopefully they will give it a fresh coat of paint.
“Big Bang for your buck ”
I will start with pre vacation. I got in touch with the amazing William from Customer Services in regards to 8 rooms and placement. He returned my emails promptly and said he would accommodate as best he could. Can't ask for more. Upon arrival William greeted us and as stated he was able to get us all in same building. Believe me not an easy thing to do for 8 rooms. Alina at check in..FABULOUS. Stay clear of Harold, he is in need of an ego check. (our only negative all week) Our rooms were large and spotless. We were in building 7, close to everything. We went to the buffet for lunch, perfect timing! Food was plentiful and very good. There is absolutely NO reason to go hungry here. I have a glutten intolerance and was never hungry!! Fresh fruit, veggies, fish and meat and for those who can indulge pasta. There was someone cooking for you all the time. There were enough changes in food through the week no-one got bored. Must have fried bananas. The wait staff...Louisa for breakfast and lunch, Alfredo or Raphael for dinners. Yanara and Fiz cook up mean omelets (take your bacon and sausage to them to crisp up) I got to the Italian a la carte, great food and service. A couple in the group stole away for a dinner at the Oriental a la carte and came back raving! We had our final dinner of the week(Halloween) in the International Azul, with the one and only dancing waiter! Incredible meal, can't say enough of our meal here. Its Cuba and we ate like kings and queens. The beach grill on Friday for $10 lobster lunch a must, see Fidel. I could go on about the food but so much more to the resort. Best Mojito, beach bar, best spanish coffee lobby bar, best cappacino(with or without coffee liquor) 24 hour bar, swim up bar was just a ton of fun everything was tasty. Animacion team..WOW that's all I have to say about that!!! Energy galore, included everyone, everywhere. They work so hard to make your stay memorable. Job well done all. Shows were fun. For those without kids don't go until 9pm ish. The beach, now you see it, now you don't ! Depending on the tide. always somewhere to sit (beach or poolside) clean, clean, lean. The ocean is glorious. Took a hobicat ride, saw new colours of blue. Can see bottom for miles. Guess you could say we all are happy vacationers for our time with the Tryp Cayo Coco family. Highly recommend, something for everyone.
“Interesting Experience ”
Tryp is the second oldest resort on Cayo Coco. They work hard at upkeep and do a good job. Best staff I have ever encountered. I had a junior suite (3 room) and the air conditioner quit the second day. I called to report it and was fixed almost before I hung up. The beach is awesome. Food is good. Ala carte restaurants beautiful. Cost was surprisingly cheap for what i got (VIP package). Lots to do with plenty of scheduled events.
“The best place of Cayo Coco!”
Very nice place! The customers are the best! Clean place. The meal is very good. The restaurants are impecable! Thanks all! The beach is very very very extraordinary! The ocean is clear et clean! Nice!
“Good Value for the money ”
Went to the Tryp Cayo Coco, from Oct 24 to the 31st and had a great stay. I stayed in Block 2, had the ocean view room and it was fantastic, definitely worth the extra money, I could see the beach from my bed. The room was clean, bright and in good shape, the linen was clean as well as the towels. The grounds were kept in really good shape, and the surroundings were beautiful. The food at the buffet was always very good, huge variety of foods to please everyone...I often wonder what these people complain about the lack of variety, beef, pork, chicken, liver, different types of fish, roast beef, all types of green salads, even had sushi a couple of times...fresh fruits and vegetables daily...I just don't know what the complaint is. The staff were extremely friendly and were always going the extra mile for any special requests. I will definitely go back to this hotel.
“Third time! ”
Third time at Tryp. Came with friends we met from last time. Tryp was awesome as usual. Food was excellent . Room was in a good location even though we asked for block five. Weather was good. Good food, weather, and good friends! Julio and Fis rocked!
“We love Tryp Cayo Coco ”
Just got back from our 7th visit to Tryp. It always leaves us wanting more and can't wait until we get to go again. We are always so well treated there and everyone is so nice. The food is delicious and if anyone complains about it, then they would never be happy anywhere. There is so much variety as well. The weather is excellent every time we go, but found that in Oct. it was awesome. The water was amazing....so warm. There are many free water activities to enjoy too. The snorkelling is fantastic and we very much enjoy that. There are paddle boats, kayaks, and a catamaran to go out on. A staff will take you on the catamaran. The beach is also wonderful and well kept. The pools are cleaned everyday and the property is just lovely. There are also lots of adventures to go on if that is what you are looking for and the prices for them are very fair. For example...swim with the dolphins for $55.00 CUC. The rooms are being upgraded and although not all finished yet, there is a big improvement going on. All in all....a great place to go and enjoy...Already looking forward to trip #8 and it looks like we will be going with several friends and family. Viva La Cuba....:) Oh...and I would not recommend going during March Break....unless you want to put up with a lot of students.
“Nice hotel ”
The hotel was great. Rooms must be upgraded. Nice beach and food is awesome ! Restaurant a la carte are great too. Clean site. I would definitly go back in an updated room though. The service was excellente. Really close to the airport a 15 minute drive.
“great place ! ”
this is a great resort, nothing fancy but not crappy either. just average. It is clean well set-up food is good for Cuba, the beach is absolutely wonderful, clean long white sandy lots of chairs and cover if needed. would recommend this resort for anyone on a budget, really good bang for your buck!!!! :)
“A Birthday To Remember....Thank You Tryp (Nov 12-19 2014) ”
When asked what I wanted for my 50th birthday, the answer was simple - To go to the Tryp for a week to remember and it was most definitely A WEEK TO REMEMBER from arrival to departure. Everyone was so lovely. Check in was in guest services with Jorge, whom had organised the rooms and restaurants to perfection for us. Thank you. Our rooms were ready, clean and extremely comfortable with a breath taking ocean views. Maid service was great. Steve and the daytime entertainment staff worked extremely hard to ensure activities were fun for all guests to join in with if they wished. We did and it was fun. Evening enterntainment - The shows are amazing. Over the 12 years we have travelled to the Tryp the shows are absolutely OUTSTANDING. The dancers are talented and dedicated to perform an amazing show for all. Steve and Danny created exceptionally funny evenings with their audience participation shows, don't think I have laughed so much! Buffet and Restaurants - Outstanding food, can not fault any of it. Bar Staff - I have read complaints but to be honest I can't complain. I tend to find that if I treat any staff member with the respect I would like to be treated with it is returned by all. Gardens - Kept beautiful and clean and well maintained. Renovations - Some accommodations blocks are being renovated at the moment, but to be completely honest this had absolutely no impact on the holiday. The workers worked extremely hard and are extremely quiet, so even around the poolside it is not an inconvenience. The main stage area was having a new roof but again this did not impact on the holiday as nightly shows were either in the 24 hour bar or in the Night Club. No matter what, everyone worked hard to ensure daily life went on as normal. The staff are the real credit to this hotel. They are commited to ensure that your holiday is an enjoyable one, and if you have a problem, just let them know and they will strive to correct it if they can. So THANK YOU TRYP for the most memorable amazing birthday holiday. A lasting memory. See you guys in April 2015
“Amazing Resort. ”
We spent 1 week (Nov 8-15) at Tryp. This was a great resort (probably best Ive been to in all of Cuba - stayed at over 7 resorts in Cuba), especially if your going as a couple or family. We were 2 couples in our 20's - 30's and found that it was a good mix of couples, family and some singles. Ive been to Sol Cayo Coco and NH Krystal (now mojito iberostar Cayo Coco) both near by and Tryp is DEFINITELY better then both. There isn't anything wrong with the other 2, but overall Tryp is a more complete resort. The Pool is definitely better then any of the other the resorts. The food was REALLY good. We enjoyed each and every meal. Tons of options super tasty (love the coconut ice cream). The Italian al a carte was our favorite for sure (although I thought the buffet was amazing). The service was exceptionally good with very helpful staff as I'm sure most Cuba vacationers already know. Nightly performances were very good and entertaining. Great work! The only downfalls are: rooms are not new (not a big deal for me). Even the renovated rooms are still outdated, but for sleeping and cleaning up, they will absolutely do the job. If your looking to spend hours end in your room and not be outside, I would strongly suggest booking at your local luxury hotel and don't bother flying to sunny Cuba. My biggest upset which I cant blame the hotel for is the beach. There is pretty much NO beach. I'm not being sarcastic, the beach has been almost completely washed out. There is a thin line of chairs along the shore, but definitely not the beach experience I'm use to or want when going to Cuba. Although this is not the hotels fault, I think the travel provider (selloffvacation in my case) should have a warning or disclaimer. With that being said, even with the lack of a beach (the pool really makes up for it), the resort is so good that I would have still gone knowing how good everything is. Ive never repeated a resort, but I can see why this could be one that people go back to and I would likely do the same. Don't second guess this resort...JUST BOOK IT AND GO, YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!! p.s. TAKE BUG SPRAY!!! I have never had issues with getting bit, but this is next level stuff and their tiny hard red bites.....DAMM mosquito's, super ichy.
“Amazing Vacation at Tryp ”
This is the first trip for me in 12 years and my first to a tropical destination...WOW! I was amazed. I have never been to Cuba and I feel like I found a new second home. I travelled for a special friends' birthday celebration with her family and friend as well. I was overwhelmed with love from Edgar, William, Jose, Ricardo - to name a few! but for most of the staff, the people are just incredible and made me feel so welcomed and like I said...a second home! The resort is beautiful, the uniqueness, restaurants, food - AMAZING, ambiance is just breathtaking...I love the ocean and it just doesn't get much better than this! Every aspect of my holiday was special, the staff warm, friendly, the hotel ammenities, the entire trip was something out of dream...when I got back to the snow, I wanted to turn around and go back. I will be bringing my son and husband to this amazing world of Tryp and I cannot wait to go back...I am starting to save today! believe me, you will not be disappointed at this resort. With the natural beauty of Cuba, the love of the staff, the gorgeous pools, the ocean! JUST INCREDIBLE! I'm still living in the dream and will for a very long time.
“Hotel better than most reviews reveal ”
I truly can?t wait to stay at the Tryp Cayo Coco again. The accommodations for the price I paid were amazing. It was one of the coolest hotels I have ever said at. For one, it was a hotel with a cause and a philosophy which totally vibed with the type of person I am. Its called the Good Hotel and everything about it was good, it was super environmentally friendly and cool at the same time. My family and I spent unforgettably time in Tryp Cayo Coco!
“Excellent Trip ”
Customer Service - William is so polite and does everything he can do to make your stay great, leaving you wanting to go back. Management - Very helpful, polite and friendly. Staff - No matter what job they had from management, threw to staff doing washrooms were polite, friendly and a real pleasure to talk to. Rooms - Clean and comfortable. Had everything if needed. Was kept clean everyday. Food - Excellent food was delicious, wide choice. Staff provided excellent service. Thumbs up to chef, cooks, dinning room and a la carte staff jobs were well done. Entertainment - Great activities all day for everyone. Wonderful night shows. The grounds and beach were clean and well kept.
“Great Holiday ”
We stayed at the tryp in January 2013 for my wifes birthday and had a fantastic time during our first holiday in cuba. We are planning to go back for my 50th in February. We would recomend this hotel to anyone wanting a great value for money holiday with staff that are truely amazing and are the reason we will be going back to tryp. I agree with the most of the previous reviews, the hotel does need a make over and up grades, but I'm sure that with this being a year round resort it will take longer for this work to be carried out, but hey guys please don't let this put you off what is a really great place to stay.
“Great time at Tryp Cayo Coco ”
We were in Tryp many times. The food was very good and tasty. Been in other parts of Cuba and hated the food. The staff at Tryp are great and very helpfull. The rooms were very clean all the time, but are tired. The entertainment staff were on the go all the time. The service at the bars were ok, the main bar was always short of glasses, for the pool bars I suggest bringing your own mugs their plastic cups are terible. The tubs are slippery, bring some none slip pertection. We will be returning to Tryp November 21/2014 for another great time, see you there.
My sister and I were at the Tryp in Febuary and just returned from another trip at the Tryp. We celebrated my sister's birthday and wow what a birthday she had. The staff at the Tryp are amazing. They are the reason we continue to return year after year. Belkys and Yamilka, Fiz Lorenzo and soooo many more from office to entertainment staff they are all wonderful. So my suggestions to all that travel. When you leave home do not expect all the comforts of home. You are on vacation smile, relax and enjoy yourselves Oh and ease up on the staff they always try there best What more can one ask for but fun in the sun. See you soon my friends and thank you
“Can't please everyone ”
I appreciate that people have their own opinions, but this was our second visit and not our last. What makes it special for us is the staff. Apologies if there are any spelling mistakes. Ricardo, donius, Indira, William, member of entertainments team who rescued the hair salon lady and cut my hair and the fantastic new management who have clearly started making positive changes. Donius remembered us from one year ago and remembered what I had to eat for breakfast, with all of the Guests he serves that is amazing !! I haven't mentioned our favourite waitress Madiala, what a lady, she works so hard and is there when your glass/cup is empty her service is first class. The lads at the beach bar do a great job and are very hardworking. The chap who last year was in the international restaurant and is now in the Lobby bar is so entertaining and again very professional. We stayed in block 10 both visits and this was organised by William. The repeat Guests lunch is a nice touch and we really enjoyed it. Our maid kept our room spotless and again worked very hard. Asiers, have you treated your wife to the Spa yet , highly recommended. I don't understand why Thomas Cook don't fly from Gatwick anymore, but I will still travel to Manchester as I can't wait to go back. Great to see our lovely rep Norma again, she is brilliant. We met some lovely people Pauline and Mick, Lynn and Mike and Melvyn . As I have already said, can't wait to return and for the money in my opinion it's fantastic value for money and the staff are the biggest asset. Yanara has the smile of Cuba, she lights up the buffet restaurant, the Lady in the towel hut , the gardeners just so so many people made our holiday special. Yes we had niggles and things that were not perfect, but These were by far outweighed by the wonderful team of staff.
“Miss debbie wade ”
Well as I was amazed with this resort last year I had to return and it was outstanding. Travelled to the town moron and Sierra de avela two most amazing sights and history. We stayed for lunch and cocktails, visited a place were they created the most amazing art work and jewellery from old silver cutlery. Went to pila beach with the golden sands and clear blue ocean stretching for miles. Tryp Cayo coco CUBA made us feel like family and we never wanted for anything. Thanks once again tryp Cayo coco for another great holiday xx
“Best Family Vacation ”
I arrived at Tryp on October 24th with my family and friends I had met in March at this resort. From the time I set my foot off the bus I felt like I was coming home. William bless his heart waited for us we didn't get into the resort until almost 11 pm. But as always check in was quick rooms were nice and my vacation could begin finally. This was my second visit to this resort I was here before for the first time on March 28th on a Mother Daughter trip we were treated like royalty back then but this time we were treated like family. It was a great family vacation. I loved spending time with my Cuban family who took us into their homes and made us supper danced and laughed. I loved walking on the beach with my grandson. The entertainment staff was the best. We all loved the shows at nights even my Grandson he was so content watching. Thanks Danny Boy. Steve was awesome at playing games. I know all my family enjoyed their vacation. The food was awesome the staff in the buffet was the best. The massages were the best they knew I was in pain with a lower back so everyday for free I got a 15 minute massage Thanks to the girls in the spa for arranging that and Donelo in the gym thanks for the accu pressure, I want to say how much I enjoyed spending time with my new family Roy the gardener the best one. The beach was amazing. Happy to see they are updating but still nice and comfortable. The La cartes are the best. The dancing waiter was the best much love Alex Thanks for the laugh's. The new manager very friendly. William is the best in Customer Service he is my brother and will do anything for anyone. So please guys cut him some slack sometimes I hear people can get nasty demanding things just ask nice. I am counting the days till I can see you everyone again at Tryp. some advice to future guest's never remove anything out of room you will be charged a heavy price. Learned the hard way but removing a coffee mug 5 peso's George in guest services should not be there treated like a thief of a coffee mug and yelled at for being honest. One unfriendly other than him I encountered is 2 woman at front desk very very rude need to go back to school for manner's. Too bad that's who you first deal with bad situation. Loved your resort again see you again very soon Love you all
“Great time! ”
Staff were excellent and very helpful. Everyone was very friendly and even taught us some Spanish. The grounds are awesome and kept very clean. Lots of improvements being made in the rooms. We had a very relaxing, excellent time!
“Honeymoon oct 2014 ”
There are not enough words to describe how much i have fallen in love with this beautiful place. The staff are fantastic, always had a smile on their faces! In particular Niurys in the lobby bar, Julius in the morning buffet and Yomaria in the beauty salon, They really did make my honeymoon a beautiful experience and one i will never forget. We were made to feel welcome from day one, being greeted by Jorge with a complimentary romantic meal, a bottle of champagne and a rose waiting for us in the room. The hotel itself is kept to a good standard of cleanliness, there was always someone cleaning, sweeping or trimming. The rooms, albeit in need of modernizing, were comfortable and kept immaculate with maid service every day, fresh towels and linen and a new bottle of water, with a TV and Kettle provided (Although i would advise you take your own Tea bags as there are none on site. The food was fantastic, especially in the international a la carte! The Buffet food was plentiful and of so much variety, although again i would advise that you get there early to be able to enjoy it. The pool was beautiful, clean and spacious with plenty of sunbeds for everyone. The beach was the selling point for me, wow. Immaculate! If i had to moan about anything, there is only one thing.. 1 week wasnt enough!! i needed more. I would go back again tomorrow if given a chance, it really is a beautiful piece of paradise!
