Once you cross the Bay of Havana, enjoying the colorful journey from the Luz Harbour up to the other side in Regla town, you could visit the Municipal Museum, which holds the history of one of the Cuban communities that has more deeply endeavor to preserve its traditions.

The history of Regla was born in the sea shore, it has influenced its abundance of links between process and essential events in Havana and the whole country.

The museum inaugurated in December 29th, 1982, illustrates in its four rooms the origin of the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Regla, the evolution of the town from in the 17th and 18th Centuries, and the economic activity in the Havana harbour in the 19th Century, the action of Europeans, African and Asian immigrants, as well as the participation of the native population in the events of the war of independence in the Island.

The rooms dedicated to the native's religious syncretism show the worship of Yemaya. She is the patroness of the bay of Havana, and her feast is celebrated every September 7th with a procession through all the streets of the town.

The room exhibits holy objects, attributes, and ritual seats. A privileged place has the mysterious Ifá board and its shells. The Museum of Regla has in its main building diverse exhibitions all through the year, to present art collections, mainly of painting and engravings. Regla treasures a valuable holdings of this latter form of art.

The pieces of art from its seashore perspective includes engravers of the colonial times up to creation of contemporary artists as the pioneer of the Cuban Association of Engravers, maestro Carmelo González.

Capital of Cuba and the country's administrative, political, cultural and scientific center, it is also the capital of two provinces: City of Havana and Havana. Though only around 280 square miles (727 square kilometers) in size-0.65 percent of the archipelago's total area.

The Old Havana and system of forts led UNESCO to declare it a part of world heritage in 1982. Founded on its present site in 1519, the settlement of San Cristobal de La Habana prospered mainly due to its bay, which was a natural port of call for ships sailing to and from the New World. Starting in 1634, because of its strategic location, San Cristobal de La Habana was considered the key to the New World-as attested to by royal letters patent-and the main defense of the West Indies.

The Cuban capital consists of an immense number of buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, built in the course of nearly five centuries. These styles range from the pre-baroque to the baroque, neo-Gothic, neoclassical, eclectic, art noveau and art-deco, to the modern.

Alejo Carpentier, one of Cuba's most famous authors, called it "the city of columns" and focused attention on its streets, which he considered a perennially rich show of life, humanity and contrasts that was bound to entertain any observer.

Over 14 kilometers of excellent beaches lie to the east of the Cuban capital. To the south, a green belt contributes to a healthful atmosphere.
