Located on the Industria street No. 520, in Old Havana, always had that beautiful colonial building as venue. It is the oldest cigar factory of Cuba and there, emerged the figure of the tobacco reader, profession that still exits aimed at reading aloud to workers.

The brand Flor de Tabacos Partagas was registered in 1845 by D. Jaime Partagas, a Catalan owner of a small cigar factory in Havana. Partagas was at the same time, owner of some tobacco plantations in the region of Vuelta Abajo.

patagasIn 1865, Partagas created the enterprise La Flor de Tabacos de Partagas y Cia. After his death, the brand was bought by the banker Jose Bances who sold it to another family that kept it until 1959 when it became a estate property.

In this visit you can find some of the most famous cigars of Cuba like: Lusitanias and Churchills.

The factory has a sale hall with a varied offer of cigars.

  • Partagas Cigar Factory is located in Havana
  • Capital of Cuba and the country's administrative, political, cultural and scientific center, it is also the capital of two provinces: City of Havana and Havana. Though only around 280 square miles (727 square kilometers) in size-0.65 percent of the archipelago's total area.

The Old Havana and system of forts led UNESCO to declare it a part of world heritage in 1982. Founded on its present site in 1519, the settlement of San Cristobal de La Habana prospered mainly due to its bay, which was a natural port of call for ships sailing to and from the New World. Starting in 1634, because of its strategic location, San Cristobal de La Habana was considered the key to the New World-as attested to by royal letters patent-and the main defense of the West Indies.

The Cuban capital consists of an immense number of buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, built in the course of nearly five centuries. These styles range from the pre-baroque to the baroque, neo-Gothic, neoclassical, eclectic, art noveau and art-deco, to the modern.

Alejo Carpentier, one of Cuba's most famous authors, called it "the city of columns" and focused attention on its streets, which he considered a perennially rich show of life, humanity and contrasts that was bound to entertain any observer.

Over 14 kilometers of excellent beaches lie to the east of the Cuban capital. To the south, a green belt contributes to a healthful atmosphere.

    Touring Havana’s Cigar Factories
You’ll forever remember the pungent aroma of a cigar factory, a visit to which is de rigueur when you’re in Havana. The factories, housed in colonial buildings, remain much as they were in the mid-19th century. Though now officially known by ideologically sound names, they’re still commonly referred to by their prerevolutionary names. Each specializes in a number of cigar brands of a particular flavor—the government assigns to certain factories the job of producing particular brands. Tours usually bypass the tobacco preparations and begin in the galeras (rolling rooms), then pass to the quality-control methods. Note that the factory names are switched between factories with annoying regularity when one or more close for repair, and that no cameras or bags are permitted.

    Partagas Cigar Factory Havana Cuba
Positions within the production areas of the factory require a minimum of nine months training for the workers who fill them. Quality is always of prime concern, and Authentic Cuba Travel participants will get to see every step of the process, from tobacco coming in off of the trucks to sorting, rolling, wrapping, and even adhering the proper labels to the cigars to ensure their authenticity. It’s truly a unique experience and a chance to view an integral part of Cuba’s history and present up close and personal. Cigar Factory, Havana Authentic tours of Partagas give Havana’s visitors the chance to see locals hard at work. Jobs on the production lines pay a hefty salary increase over many labor jobs in the city, and workers are provided their choice of 3 fine cigars each day. It’s rather unique to see the workers smoking even while they are working, and the tradition of hiring someone to read to the workers while they do their jobs is always of interest to Cuba travellers. Each day begins with the reading of the daily newspaper, followed by works of historic literature. In fact, it is the latter part of this that provides the reason why so many of the factory’s cigars are named for literary figures. Cigar Roller at Partagas Cigar Factory, Cuba Partagas is certainly an incredible thing to do for travelers to Havana, and it is an important part of the Cuban cultural landscape. For those looking to capture the magnificence of the factory, the windows of El Capitolio provide an absolutely brilliant viewing angle. The architecture of Havana brings in thousands of tourists every year who want to be able to see these magnificent buildings in person. Travellers from all walks of life join Cuba Education Tours every year, and whether you are coming for history, architecture, or just to capture a glimpse of life in Havana, Partagas is certainly one attraction you won’t want to miss.

    Partagas Cigar Factory
The Real Fabrica de Tabacos Partagas is something of a Havana institution and this factory produces some of the highest quality Cuban cigars. Tourists will find this attraction located just behind the Capital Building in Centro, where it was founded in the middle of the 19th century. Today, around 400 people work here, producing renowned cigar brands such as both 'Cohibas' and 'Montecristos'. Guided tours are available every 15 minutes, with the tour lasting around 30 minutes in total. At the end of the tour you will be able to purchase cigars by the box, although do note that no photography is allowed.

    Cigar factory - Partagas
Founded in 1845, this is Cuba's largest and perhaps most renowned cigar factory, producing around 5 million cigars a year. The off-yellow and rust-trimmed neoclassical facade is resplendent in the Havana morning sunlight. (You can take your best photos of it from the west-side windows of El Capitolio.) Official tours are only offered at 10am and 2pm daily, although you can sometimes work your way into one of the many tour groups that come through all day long. Throughout the day, you can stop in and buy cigars from their well-stocked shop, La Casa del Habano.

    Partagas Cigar Factory
This famous Havana cigar factory was founded in 1845. The tour costs US$10, which is overpriced, in my opinion. I didn't go inside the factory, but instead went to the air-conditioned showroom. There is a cigar roller here showing how a cigar is
