pposed to other beaches in Cuba where one can only find tourists, Playas del Este is very popular among the habaneros, who can frequently enjoy these warm waters thanks to their closeness to the city.

The next beach between Bacuranao and El Mégano is a tourist resort called Tarará, 20 kilometers away of Havana. Its marina (Marina Tarará) is the perfect place for those who want to go out fishing or diving.

27 kilometers away from Havana, Guanabo Beach occupies the coastal strip of the town of Guanabo. With 25 kilometers of beaches it is the most visited of the Playas del Este. In the summer, it can gather up to 120 thousand visitors. It has shopping centers, restaurants, bars, nightclubs.

Guanabo beachUnlike Santa María del Mar, this little town has no hotels, but there are lots of houses for rent instead. The quality of the sand is pretty good, even if some areas are affected by river mouths and stony bottoms, where one should avoid swimming.

Guanabo Beach is located in Havana

Capital of Cuba and the country's administrative, political, cultural and scientific center, it is also the capital of two provinces: City of Havana and Havana. Though only around 280 square miles (727 square kilometers) in size-0.65 percent of the archipelago's total area.

The Old Havana and system of forts led UNESCO to declare it a part of world heritage in 1982. Founded on its present site in 1519, the settlement of San Cristobal de La Habana prospered mainly due to its bay, which was a natural port of call for ships sailing to and from the New World. Starting in 1634, because of its strategic location, San Cristobal de La Habana was considered the key to the New World-as attested to by royal letters patent-and the main defense of the West Indies.

The Cuban capital consists of an immense number of buildings in a wide range of architectural styles, built in the course of nearly five centuries. These styles range from the pre-baroque to the baroque, neo-Gothic, neoclassical, eclectic, art noveau and art-deco, to the modern.

Alejo Carpentier, one of Cuba's most famous authors, called it "the city of columns" and focused attention on its streets, which he considered a perennially rich show of life, humanity and contrasts that was bound to entertain any observer.

Over 14 kilometers of excellent beaches lie to the east of the Cuban capital. To the south, a green belt contributes to a healthful atmosphere.

Review about Beaches: Guanabo Beach
Very good Baxter

Recommended
We stayed at Guanabo for 4 nights. Nice beaches but it was a bit windy for 2 of our 4 days so we got the bus into Havana. There were not many other tourists and there was a real 'Cuban' feel about the place. Recommended

“Good beach but not like Varadero ”
There are different areas to go to the beach in Playas del Este and you will always have a great time, even though our trip was good I will prefer to go to Varadero, but the advantage is that it is closer to Havana.

Excellent John M

“You dont need Varadero to find great beaches ”

This is a great option instead of the all inclusive and you have the... More
